Google Shows Off “Project Glass” AR Glasses. Announces Public Testing Now In Progress.

If you haven’t heard of Google’s “Project Glass”, you’re missing out. It is the do-everything company’s new augmented reality project built around smart glasses. The futuristic looking frames house a camera for still and live video shots as well as wireless capabilities for cellular data, location aware services and sharing the aforementioned feeds with online services and accounts. It’s all pretty neat.

In the video below, one scenario where AR technology could benefit mankind is shown off shows a guy walking around New York City interacting with his surroundings and piping it all through the AR glasses — telling his glasses to mark a reminder for a concert, sharing a video feed with a close friend and checking in at curbside drink shop. It’s cool. It’s futuristic. It makes us want a pair now.
