Japanese Carrier Softbank In “Advanced Talks” To Buy Sprint/Nextel For $12.81 Billion

Well hello Thursday morning. What would normally start as a pretty quiet day for tech news is already throwing a massive curveball with the Wall Street Journal reporting that Japanese cellular carrier Softbank is currently in talks to purchase U.S. Sprint/Nextel for roughly ¥1 trillion ($12.81 billion USD). More specifically, Japan’s Nekkei business paper is saying the “purchase” is in the form of buyout totaling 2/3 of Sprint’s total stock.
