VistaBB ups the bar for Vista themes

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 12:45

Yes I know, at first you may be saying to yourself “another Vista/Windows theme?!”  Don’t fret. I know I have shown off quite a few Vista style Blackberry themes, however, this particular theme, VistaBB, created by Brian from PimpMyBerry, single handedly raises the bar for all future Windows style themes.  Not only does this theme look amazingly polished, it is also highly functional, (something that often doesn’t occur on highly creative themes).  For the full list of the themes features and functions as well as another screenshot, take a second and come inside.

Blackberry + iBerry Pink Zen = Happy Girlies

Monday, April 20, 2009 8:44

Often times when we mention a Crackberry users or nerd, our minds instantly think of some middle aged, slightly to grossly over weight man with graying hair and a receding hairline.  *Not to offend - nothing wrong with the aforementioned traits*.  What you don’t think of is some cutsie young girl proudly carrying around her gadgets with a big smile on her face.  One particular gadget that has had a large increase in subscriber base in the last one to two years is RIM with their ever popular Blackberry.  It seems more and more casual users are jumping into the world of smartphones and making a good first jump at that.  Finally, the Blackberry theming community is picking up on this growing trend of increased female users and is starting to pump out more and more complex themes geared towards that area of the market.  iBerry Pink Zen is personally one of the coolest looking girly themes I have seen yet.  Even the pink and bluish tinted iPhone-esque icons were designed very well.

If you are one of the growing female users to Crackberry nation or you just like flowers, * it’s ok, I won’t judge you*, head on over to BPlay today and get your Pink Zen on for the now standard premium theme price of $6.99.  By the way, iBerry Pink Zen can be downloaded for ALL Blackberry devices from as far back as the 81xx series up to the 95xx series.  I can tell you this, just by pictures alone, if I were a chick, I would definitely pick this theme up!

If the wave of “iPhonish” themes is getting old and wearing thin leaving you looking for something new, the Chiron Blackberry theme has just what you need.  Featuring 8 customizable scrolling icons and 3 today icons plus a brushed metal/chrome look to it, it takes on a more machined/industrial look that says “Hey, I’m a serious here”.  So the theme won’t talk to you or help your masculinity, but it will look pretty darn good on your Blackberry 8900 Curve, Bold, or Storm.  Head on over to Elecite and prepare $6.99 to pick up your copy now and show those cutesie iPhone theme users what a real Blackberry theme looks like.

PSB (PS3) theme for Blackberry 8900, Bold, Storm

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 6:53

Those Crackberry users looking to bring a bit of Sony flare to their beloved 8900, Bold, or Storm can now do so thanks to Elecite, you can now have the Playstation 3 UI on your Berry.  What is different about this theme from others is the navigation on the homescreen.  It is uncluttered and relatively free of any objects blocking the wallpaper except for 5 icons.  However, once hovered above an icon, 4 more icons will appear beneath it bringing the grand total of icons on the homescreen to 20 — and all without cluttering up the screen!  The first column of icons on the far left is customizable while the other 4 are fixed.  (I’m sure you’ll be fine).  The rest of the theme has a cool yet dark style that is easy on the eyes.  If you’re interested on getting this fine example of a great theme, click on the respective links below to download for your device:

All good things come with a price and PSB is no different.  $6.99 really is a small price to pay for such an ocular extravaganza.

The Racer Theme for Blackberry puts a new twist on wallpaper…

Monday, March 30, 2009 9:59

The title above leads one to believe that a “special wallpaper” would be or is a gimmicky way to sell a theme. However, the way the developer of The Racer theme from idBerry exicuted his “window wallpaper” is actually quite unique and adds a pretty cool twist on Blackberry themes. What it is is essentially a “banner” or overlay over the actual wallpaper with just a small spot left open to allow the actual wallpaper to show through. As you can see above, it works well and gives you almost limiteless possibilities on how to show off your new enhanced wallpaper. The Racer theme is available for the Blackberry 8900 and Bold for $5.99 at the Berry Reivew Store.

Win Se7en theme by Kissberry.

Friday, March 27, 2009 16:20

Another day…another spectacular Blackberry theme.  This time it comes by way of  Kissberry.  The theme, Se7en (not to be confused with the simliarly named Se7en theme from Hedone design) is a port of the the Windows 7 style and design straight to the Blackberry ending up in a nice mash up of style and usability.  For the Bold version of the theme there is a 5-icon circle of icons at the bottom and center of the home screen.  Highlights of Se7en include:

  • Pop up windows for Calendar, phone list, and media right on the homescreen
  • Today area for 8 items
  • OTA and ZIP downloads
  • Available for 4.6 OS only

If the Windows look is for you (I’m even digging it), set aside $6.99 and go to either link below to purchase:

Elecite just knows how to crank out stunningly perfect Blackberry themes.  The latest themes to come to Blackberry land from the great developers at Elecite include Leopard (I know you’re thinking “ugh…another”) and Inspirat (Windows 7).  Don’t worry.  These themes while not the first of their kind to the market, definitely are worth the price (which is $6.99 for each) and deserve to be shown off on your berry.  Leopard is of course modeled after Mac OS X Leopard and it shows it well.  Everything looks very slick and well put together with no pixelated edges or unfilled areas.  It features a 6-icon bottom dock that hides when not selected letting you view  your wallpaper in true Mac minimalizim fasion.  Inspirat, a 5-icon bottom dock theme is also a very well put together OS theme that truly showcases the beauty of Windows 7…(Yes, I just included a positive adjective and Windows in the very same sentence…)  It has nice glassy icons as a hidden surprise when  you roll over the bottom left icon…a pop start menu!  Both Leopard and Inspirat are available for the 81xx, 83xx, 88xx, 89xx, 9xxx, and 95xx series devices and can be had for only $6.99 at Elecite.  Blackberry themes sure have come a long way in just a few years time.  These latest themes are just glimpses of what the newest generation of Blackberries coupled with Plazmic’s themebuilder can do.  Stay tuned!

Posted in category Blackberry Themes

Static themes are so yesteryear.  The new pinnacle of Blackberry theme making is changing backgrounds.  The latest and coolest Blackberry theme to cross my radar is the “Cities of the World” theme available at BPlay.  This new theme switches backgrounds between 20 major different cities of the world!  Besides the switching backgrounds, the icons are an iPhone-esque design which really looks slick with the rest of the design.  The cities that display on the wallpaper include: Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Moscow, New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, San Francisco, Shanghai, Seoul, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto and Venice.  The wallpapers rotate every 10 minutes ensuring whenever you glance at your device, the scenery is always different.  If this sort of international quest is your thing, head on over to BPlay at get ready to send $5.99 their way.  Just make sure you’re rockin’ an 8100, 8300, 8800 (sorry no 8830 support), or 9000 series device.  If you decide to pick up Cities of the World, drop us a few pictures so we can see it in action.

Z Man’s “Storm X” Blackberry theme shocks…and awes

Thursday, February 26, 2009 18:04

While making themes for the Blackberry Storm has only been possible for just a couple weeks, theme developers are already pouncing on the opportunity to showcase their work on one of RIM’s biggest ever product launches.  If you haven’t ever checked out Z Man Designs I highly suggest it as he has many amazing themes that are simply stunning.  His latest work of art goes by the name of “Storm X” and is obviously for the Storm.  The bottom dock on Storm X has a sort of dark Android app bar feel if you know what I mean…very sleek.  Their are also two rows of icons oriented towards the top of the screen with a nice small yet functional header bar on top displaying only the most important items such as time, date, cell signal, and battery life.  Other indicators get shuffled to the space between the “docked” icons and the two upper rows.  Enough talking…step inside to see some eye candy…that’s what you really want!

FREE bDroid theme for Blackberry Storm.

Posted in category Blackberry Themes, RIM

If the whole Android look gets you going but the actual OS or device still hasn’t won you over you have a new option.  Brian Collins over at Blackberry News has created now a tie for first (IMO) for the best looking Blackberry Storm theme.  It captures the slick look of Android and really gives your Storm a whole new lease on life.  One little tidbit that might also sway you to this theme is that so far, with other 4.7 Plazmic built themes, device performance tends to take a hit…not with bDroid.  According to BB News it renders and performs just as fast as a stock theme.  Good job Brian!  More pictures and direct OTA download link inside.

iBerry Bottom Dock for Blackberry Storm

Thursday, February 19, 2009 13:01

If you have been toting around a Blackberry Storm and desperately want the look and feel of the iPhone, until today you’ve been out of luck.  However today is your day Mr. Blackberry user as Artem Cheban over at Gemblock has released one of the best looking Storm themes to date: iBerry Bottom Dock.  As you can see above the theme looks simply beautiful.  Not only that but the “touch” strip that appeared on the AppleBerry theme is also incorporated on iBerry.  Touch the blank area slightly above the bottom dock and you will be taken straight to the application screen, no need to hit the application button anymore!  For more information and the link to download this unique theme, check out the iBerry post at Gemblock now!  Now if only the Plazmic SDK could fix some of the “ancient” feel of the Blackberry OS…

AppleBerry brings Apple/Mac flare to Blackberry Storm

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 14:08

It’s only been a week since Plazmic’s latest 4.7 CDK was leaked on the internet and already Blackberry theme builders are churning out themes as stunning as we have been seeing on the Bold.  AppleBerry, created by Hastings over at Crackberry, is the latest Storm theme to come out and is already my favorite (naturally I’m a Mac fan so I’m biased).  The homescreen is laid out with unopened/calendar events on top, a “touch strip” to activate the application screen (awesome!), and 8 icons situated nicely along the bottom.  Hastings has claimed that 98% of the icons are skinned along with custom bars and gauges meaning this Mac inspired theme will make you forget you’re on a Blackberry.  For more info, hit up the ongoing AppleBerry thread and check it out.  Be sure to give at least a small donation as this super cool theme is FREE!  Show some love and give a little an encourage hastings to keep up the good work for future themes.
