Many BlackBerry users, especially the geek and tinkers in the world love the ability to fully customize their BlackBerries with custom themes, wallpapers, and sounds. Building on that addiciton, the BlackBerry 9700 that is slated for release in just a few short weeks is no doubt the most lusted BlackBerry to date. One particular feature that many Berry users are clamoring for currently are copies of the wallpapers (shown on commercials) that are included in the new OS that ships wi...
  • RIM gobbles up Torch Mobile. Webkit BB Browser on the way?
    by Mike
    Posted August 24th, 2009 at 10:30 am
While I currently use an iPhone (for the time being) and am setting my sights on Android as my next purchase, I still have a place in my heart for RIM and their beloved BlackBerry. Even though the OS looks and operates as if it were written in 2004, the sheer simplicity of any type of messaging on a BlackBerry is hard to knock or challenge. Since the iPhone and Android have ushered in browsers that are actually worth doing any type of mobile browsing on, BlackBerries have struggled to keep u...
  • BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac “cleaner, faster, and less-bloated than PC version”.
    by Mike
    Posted August 21st, 2009 at 9:56 am
While Mac/OS X and BlackBerries/BlackBerry OS both share the same basic philosophy, "It just works", the way they display that ideology to the world is considerably different. Macs have a pristine eye candy appearance whereas BlackBerries employ a bare bones simple approach to the whole UI thing. Since the dawn of time (and the two respective companies), Mac support for RIM developed software has been sorely lacking to non-existant. 3rd parties have had to step in to remedy the situation wh...
  • RIM adding full flash and silverlight to BB Browser. BB 9700 coming to AT&T in time for Black Friday!

Without any filler or hesitation, there are two big pieces of information that all of the CrackBerry addicts out in internet land need to know: First: RIM is planning on adding FULL Flash and SilverLight support into the BlackBerry browser. Now, re-read that...planned is the keyword. According to various BGR insiders with seeds planted inside of RIM, next summer appears to be the rough guestemation date of a possible release on said support. As has been mentioned before in regards to ful...
  • BlackBerry App World now viewable on desktop computers
    by Mike
    Posted August 18th, 2009 at 11:13 am
One of the most requested features for BlackBerry App World, a desktop version to more easily and quickly view BlackBerry apps is finally here. A thoughtful feature no less is the fact that you can enter your email address into the web version of apps you have your eye on in order to send an app to your phone that will open app world on your device and take you straight to said app. Not a major feature but certainly one that cuts down on clicking, thumb twiddling, and more clicking. Other u...
  • BlackBerry Bold 9700 makes an appearance in ATT/Bell systems
    by Mike
    Posted August 17th, 2009 at 5:42 am
There's nothing like the sign of impending device releases like the first screen capture of a system inventory device list showing the latest and greatest from RIM making its way to market. The two carriers of interest are AT&T; and Bell. While new devices can appear up to 3-4 months before their actual scheduled release date, I'd say it's safe to assume an announcement and release within the next month. CrackBerry users who have been looking for something to upgrade to from their aging beau...
  • T-Mobile branded BlackBerry 9700 reveals itself to the camera
    by Mike
    Posted August 11th, 2009 at 5:24 am
This week is already starting to be a rather BlackBerry/RIM heavy week. This morning the news concerning the Canadian born gadgets features the newly re-numbered 9700. Kevin from CrackBerry was oh so lucky enough to actually spot a T-Mobile branded BlackBerry Bold 9700 cruising around the airport in NY and was even able to get a quick picture in. From the picture we can see that the trackpad has in fact made its way to the high end of RIM's product line and not a moment too soon I may add. ...
  • BlackBerry Bold 9020/Onyx/now 9700 gets official Bold branding
    by Mike
    Posted August 10th, 2009 at 11:07 am
The confusion and alphabet/numerical soup that has so far graced the BlackBerry Bold 9020 9700 can be laid to rest. Pictures of the new Blackberry Onyx leaked with the "Bold" branding have surfaced giving Crack addicts something more solid to gravitate towards. So far the Onyx has gone through a bevy of physical changes on it's track to becoming the 9700 including a trackball-to-track pad change, the whole issue revolving around the 9020/9700 numbering (I realize this isn't physical), a batt...
  • BlackBerry Storm 2 gets some more hands/eyes on!
    by Mike
    Posted August 10th, 2009 at 6:14 am
I know. It's Monday morning. It's hard enough to wake up and crawl in to work let alone actually focus on small organizations and patterns of text on a screen and try to even remotely grab any of the information. Besides, we all know the saying: "A picture is worth a thousand words". So we'll give you just that. The BlackBerry Storm 2 was spotted recently getting some more hands and eyes on time with Benez Blog (German). While there isn't any new information or pictures that we haven't s...

Mac fanatics and CrackBerry aficionados have cried out for years for Mac support in regards to Desktop Manager. All of the down and dirty syncing and maintenance on your berry had to be done on either a Windows box, or you would have to use 3rd party software that wasn't really all that great. Thankfully RIM has finally gotten into 2001 and decided that the Mac fan base just can't be ignored any longer. The screenshot comes courtesy of Adam Zeis from CrackBerry on a recent outing to the New...
  • Future 2010 and beyond BlackBerries to have front facing video cameras?
    by Mike
    Posted August 3rd, 2009 at 5:24 am
Video conferencing is one of those features that is often requested and lusted after. Though in reality, it seems that in the U.S. the feature isn't as widely used as in other countries. Countries with more advanced networks and higher wireless data speeds overseas have likely fast tracked the wants and needs for such a service while here in the U.S. we are stricken with slow and unreliable wireless service. It doesn't matter what carrier you have here in the U.S., the networks simply aren'...
