  • Latest refresh of BB Messenger finally looks good, brings RIM chatting into 2004
    by Mike
    Posted June 13th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
While it may seem like I'm knocking the latest BlackBerry messenger and the leaked screenshots, take note that I'm not. The new BB Messenger is awesome! Finally, some moderate eye candy coming to the BlackBerry messaging powerhouse. A short list of updates include avatar support, GPS based location sharing (can toggle on/off), proximity sensor, conversation subjects, homescreen support (add BBM friends/conversations to homescreen as a quick launch icon). For the full boat of pictures, st...
  • Be Bold. Be Noble. [Blackberry Theme]
    by Mike
    Posted June 10th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
While the title may play favorites with a particular device such as the Bold, this latest theme from premium theme site, the next theme from Elecite, which is nothing short of unique, is actually available for the 8900, Bold, and Storm.  The theme, titled "Noble", has 3 dedicated buttons on the homescreen with 6-8 more (depending on device) hidden below in a nice sliding dock.  No matter what device or wallpaper you have, the icons always look nice and crisp meaning you will enjoy hours of...
  • HTC Theme for Blackberry OS 4.5 devices
    by Mike
    Posted June 9th, 2009 at 7:14 am
HTC has a knack for pumping out some pretty sweet looking devices hardware wise. But they don't stop there. While HTC devices are sadly dominated by Windows Mobile, the fine designers in house have gone through great lengths to polish up the visual disaster that is Windows Mobile and given it a new lease on life by way of a dark and glassy theme all around. If you have long been a fan of that dark and glassy look but despise the thought of having to touch WinMo, a talented Blackberry theme ...
  • Pearl Flip starting to appear in VZW stores - release imminent
    by Mike
    Posted June 3rd, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Blackberry users who love suretype for its small size but hate candybar style cellphones can now get their hands on one of the very few flip style smartphones to ever be released. The Blackberry Pearl Flip is basically a *slightly* updated Pearl wrapped in a nice flip phone body. The unique design coupled with OS 4.6 makes the device seem new again. I myself have used for a short time the T-Mobile Pearl Flip and found it rather enjoyable actually. Since real phones are getting snapped in...
  • Wordpress App coming to Blackberry!
    by Mike
    Posted June 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 am
Wordpress users who have been dying for any form of mobile wordpress will be extremely excited to know that there is one coming. At Blackberry Word Camp in San Francisco, Matt Mullenweg let slip that the words: New Blackberry app soon Now I don't know about you, but I translate that literally word for word as: "We're working on one...It's coming soon". Wouldn't you? I have the Wordpress App for my iPhone and like it for the most part. However, it needs some big improvements concernin...
  • Blackberry data outage marks the entrance into June
    by Mike
    Posted June 2nd, 2009 at 2:51 am
Sooooooo, Blackberry users, how was your Monday afternoon/evening?  Did you get along alright with shoddy BIS service?  Apparently there was a massive network issue affecting users from all U.S. markets at the bare minimum.   Were you affected?  How did you pass the time?  Did your individual service even stop at all?  I know for a small time period in the early evening my service actually did stop as any browsing attempts proved futile and other data related tasks skipped and sputter...
  • RIM and Apple wiping the floor when it comes to operating revenue market share
    by Mike
    Posted June 1st, 2009 at 11:13 am
Nokia, the once dominant and undisputed mobile phone champ has of late had their market share decimated by the likes of Apple and RIM with Android nipping at their heels as well. While Nokia still has a dominant lead in regards to physical handset units, the real important indicator, their operating revenue market share is taking a beating as Apple and RIM are dominating in this sense. Poor old Nokia, while selling handsets left and right, those handsets are mostly from bottom end, low margin...

There is nothing that Blackberry Crackberry users love more than fresh OS updates. Whether the update is from ->, those addicted folks throw all caution to the wind as any change in numbers means the possibility of new goodies lurking within. So what does .153 bring to 8xxx users? Not sure yet as I'm still downloading the update myself. But I know what you really want...the DL links. 8100 8110 8120 8300 8310 8320 8800 8820 As alw...
  • Get social on your Berry with Pinwall
    by Mike
    Posted May 29th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
**Update: All free licenses have been distributed. Social butterflies and Blackberry addicts can now get it on digital speaking with a new Blackberry centric social networking site/app that goes by the name of Pinwall.  It comes off to me as sort of a souped up Blackberry messenger/facebook online mash-up.  So far I've been messing around with it for an hour or so and I like what I see.  Though, it isn't yet quite perfect. • Surepress: “I’m baaaaaaack”
    by Mike
    Posted May 28th, 2009 at 5:02 am
While new info about the Storm 2 was revealed last week, most importantly, the observation that the Surepress "click" touchscreen was missing, would lead one to assume that said technology won't be present on RIM's next rendition of the love-it-or-hate-it Blackberry. However, after RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis sat down and layed the record straight at D7 yesterday, the Storm 2's typing abilities are now even more in question. Mr. Lazaridis was quoted as saying: "Surepress is here to stay", which a...

Previously touched on yesterday, Facebook 1.6 for Blackberry looks to bring a nice small update to RIM's Facebook application.  The screenshots also show what appears to a slight freshening of the apps visual appearance.  Like it?  A couple more pics await your attention inside. (more...)...
