Soon, all of us 360 owners will be shoved an update that will now allow for USB Storage compatibility! This is actually exciting news, we no longer will be only left with the option to fork out a small fortune for Microsoft's drives, we can use our own HDD for game saves, downloadable games and DLC. For me this is huge, because when I first purchased my 360, years ago, I had a 20g harddrive option. That is all I have, which is actually left with around 4 or so gigs. My only option at the mome...

Awesome -- Windows Phone 7 has Xbox Live features built into the core of the OS. That's a good nugget to get gamers into the smartphone arena. But what if you have a PS3? Well, in the near future, you too will be catered to if Sony CEO Howard Stringer has anything to say about it (which...he does): “PSN is no secret weapon. Leveraging PSN we are building a new network service that will connect many more network enabled product including Sony Bravias, Viaos and Blu-ray players. To satisfy...

Video games are a wonderful thing. They increase your hand-eye coordination, entertain, and pass large amounts of time that seem to drag on forever. For most, the entertainment factor is the most important. Getting into the console gaming scene specifically, choosing what platform you want to use can at times be difficult. Do you want the eye candy and more hackability of the PS3, the expansive online gaming world of Xbox Live, or the get up and move nature of the Wii? If you choose al...

  • Microsoft restricting Xbox 360 units from Army because the sale wouldn’t give them enough money?

If there were anything that would make Uncle Sam angry, blatant ignorance and greed when lives are at stake is probably up near the top. Now keep the upcoming text light hearted as this hasn't been confirmed in any way by Microsoft (as if they'd admit blocking the military...). The military is growing increasingly digital these days. With that growing reliance on digital services and applications naturally comes the increased need for more and more personal computers. You typical military...

Oh geeze, I know what is going on gadget/gamers wish lists this year -- Crysis 2. Even though a good chunk of computers still can't run the visually demanding and sensory pleasing game, one of the co-devleopers of Crysis (Crytek) aren't sitting down, content with the still virtually unchallenged work. Come this holiday season, Crysis will finally be unseated as "the" game to benchmark. It's been a wonderful couple of years. Heck, besides being a great all around game to play and look at,...

Because the world isn't already chock full of custom 360 cases... Aw hell, who am I kidding? This "Allspark" Xbox 360 modded case designed and created by Flickr user givintats is just plane awesome wouldn't you say? The skeleton consists of plywood with carved and molded clay on top. Add a nice coating of chrome and you wind up with the gleaming box of archaeological awesomeness sitting before your very eyes. As for the inner glow, owners of such a 'box can switch between blue or red. ...

In our day and age, no one ever wants to recycle, use someone else's old stuff, or even take a refurb. Sure doing so reduces on various planet sucking resources but that's not what anyone cares about. God forbid their *insert product here* have a hairline scratch that somehow takes away from the overall enjoyment. Out of nowhere rant aside, Gizmodo reader Nic H sent in pictures claiming to be a new repair method being explored by Microsoft. Obviously his model is a refurb as they don't c...
  • Major Nelson says Stevie was wrong/confused/doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about — Blu-ray still not coming to Xbox 360
    by Mike

Remember that bit of Steve Ballmer loose lip that went down many hours prior to this very second? During an interview, Steve was quoted as saying not specifically saying that Xbox 360 hardware was to see Blu-ray add-on accessories, but that if the Xbox were to get Blu-ray, it would be via external forms. Many including myself took this as a sort of admission by omission if you know what I mean. Side stepping hot topics often leaves the Balms in a stuttering incoherent state, this wasn't any...

**Update: Ya, not so much. 'ol Stevie was off his rocker and was probably confused. That's what Major Nelson is saying anyway. Thank you Mr. Steve "The Balms" Ballmer for your clownish persona and loose lips. You may have just given us some hope for ways of enjoying HD content other than Xbox live. In an interview with Gizmodo's Wilson Rothman, Steve Ballmer says the following when questioned about the potential for Blu-ray support coming to the Xbox line: Well I don't know if we nee...
