Hidden settings menu for Google iPhone App.

  • January 2, 2009 9:00 am

Google is known as one of the “hipper” companies, or one that tries to push a cool image.  For instance, look at their search page logo.  It is always changing.  They like to tinker with the small details to give an overall better package.  That philosophy is carrying over to their iPhone search app.  Venture beat discovered, *with the help of Google writing about it in their mobile blog* a secret settings tab in the Google search app.  How do you get there?  It is easy.

iPhone 3g software unlock now available!

  • January 1, 2009 10:08 am

The iPhone Dev Team has official released yellowsn0w on cydia and will be available very soon if not already once they repository owner fixes a small permissions error.  One other nice tidbit is that previous reports from the Dev Team stated that ONLY OS’s with older basebands would would (pre 2.2).  However, in a cryptic teaser post last night followed by another more earthly post they revealed that they have overcame the limitation in the new baseband of 2.2 and if fact, 2.2 is required now for the unlock!   So, to everyone that was bummed about not being able to use 2.2 should feel a little bit better.

T-Mobile G2 coming on January 26th?

  • December 19, 2008 7:48 pm

Boy Genius has received information that the 2nd generation of the T-Mobile Android phone will be released on January 26th. Without any other talk about this anywhere else its hard to take this too seriously. However, BG is pretty good at predicting things so I’ll leave that up to you.

Spec wise it knocks the G1 flat on its face. Some of the important upgrades are

  • 5 megapixel camera
  • a second VGA camera for video calls (TMO is supposed to be launching a video call service in late January)
  • Enterprise Capability

Other specs are pretty much standard now.  I’m a big fan of the G1, heres hoping the G2 is even better!

iPhone 3g finally unlocked!

  • December 16, 2008 2:14 pm

News from Engadget on behalf of the Dev-Team say they have finally unlocked the iPhone 3g! The unlock has a projected release date by December 31st. You’ll need baseband 2.11.07 if you have any hopes of unlocking as newer basebands don’t work. While this is surely good news, the 3g won’t work on any other US carriers such as T-Mobile because the iPhone does not support T-Mobile’s 1700Mhz AWS 3g band so unlocking the 3g won’t get you 3g speed at cheaper prices unfortunately. Regardless it is still a nice welcome to the iPhone underground world.
