Apple Cheatsheets For iCloud And iOS 5 Leaked!

  • October 10, 2011 10:04 pm

iOS 5 and all its glory will be released upon the masses in less than two days. With it will come Apple’s revamped MobileMe service which sports a new name, “iCloud”. Where MobileMe failed (reliability, features, etc.) iCloud looks to sail above and beyond. While we could simply go on with life for another 36 hours or so until iCloud and iOS 5 hit the public arena for all kind of hands-on action, wouldn’t it be so much more fun to read the cheatsheets Apple employees are currently rehearsing? Yeah, we thought so too.

Cheat sheets after the break…

First Person Queues Up For iPhone 4S At UK Apple Store.

  • October 8, 2011 8:24 am

We’ve still got almost a week before Apple’s next-gen iPhone 4S is released to the masses. But for the most diehard, determined Apple fans no wait is too long. Echoing that sentiment is Craig Fox, owner and promoter of “JailbreakCon”, whom has officially taken spot #1 in line at the Regent Street Apple Store in the UK. When questioned by fellow tech site T3 as to whether the iPhone 4S was worth the wait, Craig responded by saying all Apple products were worth the wait:

For me any Apple product is worth the wait, and now with the loss of Steve jobs I have to have the last device he worked on, on Twitter I have used the hashtag #iPhone4S(teve).

Helping Craig pass the next ~160 hours are his Macbook, 3DS, and remote control iRemoco helicopter.

Anyone else out there looking to jump in line a few days ahead of launch for the yearly festivities?

Apple TV 3.1 Outed In iOS 5.0 Build. A5 And More RAM In Route?

  • October 8, 2011 6:31 am

9to5Mac has discovered a new “Apple TV 3,1″ in a recent build of iOS 5 signaling some major changes are on tap for the near future. Seeing as how the AppleTV just got a re-design with the last update, any major changes will likely be under the hood and most likely include more RAM and the faster dual-core A5 processor found in the iPad 2 and now iPhone 4S. The biggest benefit of course will be support for 1080p content. Of course, nothing’s official until Apple outs the goods themselves.

If the lack of 1080p support on AppleTV has held you back so far, will the new FullHD support win your dollars?

Order While You Can. Launch Day iPhone 4S Pre-Order Allotment Drying Up.

  • October 8, 2011 6:21 am

If you were hesitating (for whatever reason) to pick up a new iPhone 4S via pre-order channels, you may want to get moving before they’re all gone. As of writing Apple’s online site is completely out, with ship times for the 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB iPhone 4S (black & white) listed as shipping in 14-21 days. Likewise, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon’s individual websites have run dry of the 16 GB iPhone 4S. If the weekend continues Friday’s trend (200,000+ pre-ordered in 12 hours), however, look for those models to sell out too.

The Steve Jobs Movie: Sony Paying $1-$3 Million For Exclusive Movie Rights To Isaacson’s Biography.

  • October 7, 2011 7:07 pm

Sony will reportedly pay up to $3 million for exclusive movie rights to Walter Isaacson’s upcoming Steve Jobs biography. The production company said to be handling all the grunt work will be that of MG360, a joint effort by producer Mark Gordon and Management 360.

None of the aforementioned parties have confirmed the claims, and as such any release date is anyone’s guess at this point.

If you’re planning on buying or at least reading Isaacson’s biography on Jobs, will you venture on towards any movie that is produced as well?

Unlimited Data For iPhone 4S Upgrade Soooo Much Easier.

  • October 7, 2011 3:02 pm

Our contact within AT&T stated it was still possible to keep the unlimited plan, but as I experience, impossible to figure out and completely unclear. He also said that they are working on getting site cleaned up to make it easier to understand.

I just checked and it is working just fine and they have inserted a clear set up for data plans that is in no way confusing.

So if you were waiting for AT&T to fix the issue, it is fixed and ready for that order to be finished!

[Update] AT&T “Working With Apple” To Change “3G” To “4G” On iPhone 4S Status Bar.

  • October 7, 2011 2:55 pm

Say it ain’t so. Apple is “working with” AT&T to get the “3G” indicator on the iPhone 4S’ status bar changed (incorrectly we might add) to “4G”. As you all may know, AT&T has been pushing a lot of heavy “4G” marketing as of late with several different Android phones. The only problem of course is that the phones in question only have HSPA+ on board — and HSPA+ is not “4G”. Unfortunately, the term 4G was watered down when the powers that be gave in to carrier pressure.

Hopefully the letter is just wishful wording as Apple has never been one to give in to pressure regarding the status quo. As we see it, now would be a very bad time for Apple to start buying into the whole “4G” false marketing scam and, oh yeah, lying to customers.

We’ve reached out to AT&T and will report back once we hear something.

Update

AT&T got back with us to confirm they are working with Apple to change 3G -> 4G on the iPhone’s status bar. While we certainly appreciate the faster 14.4 Mbps HSPA+, it is again, not 4G and should not be labeled as such.

[Update] Reserve Emails From Apple Being Sent Out

  • October 7, 2011 4:17 am

Since 12:01am PST meant 12:41am in Tim Cook time, pre-ordering the latest and greatest iPhone took some time. But a short 25 minutes later the reserve email landed in my inbox. I was worried, because after the reserve, the progress wheel in Chrome kept spinning. I wasn’t sure if it had actually worked. But for all of you wondering the same thing, the proof is above.

We still want to know how the experience went for you guys out there. Personally, could of gone better. I am honestly wondering if I should of even attempted this process at the second pre-orders were up and running. The design didn’t change, so Apple shouldn’t of had a problem.

We’ll try to keep our ears to the ground on when locations are all out of units allotted for pre-ordered. We’re expecting an abundance this model, well, at least more than previous years.

Update

It looks like the ‘Complete Your Order’ emails are arriving as well. I just received that, but the completion process is still getting nailed since it is hosted on Apple’s servers. It seems that people are still bombarding the site grabbing the latest phone. I guess the lack of a design change didn’t keep people away. For those ordering this morning, it seems we have until 5pm PST Friday the 8th.
