  • New “Poser” theme from Elecite brings new approach to customizing your theme
    by Mike
    Posted December 18th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
The days of being able to simply change your wallpaper and calling that the end of your customizing rope are over. A new BlackBerry theme by Elecite takes a rather unique and exciting departure from the typical world of BlackBerry themes. Instead of merely having the ability to change your background and maybe move the icons a bit, Poser gives you a new, untold amount of options. The whole concept of the theme revolves around customizing an avatar and yes, wallpaper too. The number of ava...
  • BlackBerry theme mecca “Elecite.com” launches redesigned site. 50% site wide discounts ensue.

BlackBerry users, especially those with an eye for customization and design have probably went through at least a couple of themes on the cherished Canadian born phones. One of the best premium theme designing sites located at Elecite.com have continually pushed the envelope of the BlackBerry theme world. Back when animations were just beginning to pick up steam and still helluva hard to incorporate into themes, Elecite was at the forefront weeding their way through. It's hard work no doubt. ...
  • Get that Android 2.0 look for BlackBerry: BeDroid [BlackBerry Theme]
    by Mike
    Posted November 25th, 2009 at 11:46 am
Though not everyone's personal favorite, Android 2.0 is an often replicated UI. Even though it hasn't really changed much from previous iterations of the OS, subtle differences in icons and other UI elements did receive a freshening up. BlackBerry users, especially those who love change are always looking for that next theme to get their fix on if only for a short while. If you fit the bill and are in fact looking for that "fix", you're definitely going to want to check out the "BeDroid" them...
  • VistoThemes returns with a few BlackBerry 9700 themes: BB OSX, Droid 2.0, and Docked
    by Mike
    Posted November 23rd, 2009 at 1:17 pm
While Corey over at VistoThemes has been pretty quiet for a while, it's nice to see that he hasn't given up BlackBerry theming for good as he's freshed up a few of his older themes for the new BlackBerry 9700. Those themes include: BB OSX, Droid 2.0, and Docked. Back in the day (all of one roughly one year ago) when I carried a BlackBerry around, VistoThemes was one of my favorite theme shops. Hopefully Corey begins cranking out themes like he used to because he had quite some lookers. If yo...
  • GreenTech theme by HedoneDesign [BlackBerry Theme]
    by Mike
    Posted November 18th, 2009 at 8:45 am
HedoneDesign is somewhat famous you could say. They are one of the top premium BlackBerry theme designer sites, often pumping out great theme after great theme. Today, Hedone is adding another notch to their belt. Their new theme "GreenTech" however is more than just another notch. GreenTech is the first official BlackBerry theme to be relesaed using BlackBerry Theme Studio 5.0! The overall design of GreenTech is -- well, green -- and easily read, crisp and clear icons. The text is e...
  • Luny BlackBerry Theme

    Posted November 10th, 2009 at 10:45 am
It's that time again. Time for another unique and interesting BlackBerry Theme. Today's theme comes from a website that I don't cover very often. Though don't discount the theme developers because of it as they are quite talented. The site, Gemblock, has had some pretty cool themes come out from behind it's digital walls in the past. The latest theme, "Luny" continues that tradition. What immediately got my attention were the two custom battery/signal meters. I love custom meters, even mo...
  • BlackBerry development just became a lot more interesting…

The BlackBerry Developer Conference kicked off today and RIM personnel didn't waste any time getting to the goods. For starters, OpenGL ES support is finally coming to the BlackBerry platform (OS 5.0+). If you didn't know, OpenGL is what gives modern smartphones such as the iPhone it's amazing graphics in such small packages. But what good is powerful hardware without software? Again RIM answers, though this answer is somewhat a surprise. Since the beginning of BlackBerry theme developm...
  • BlackBerry Theme: “Transitions”
    by Mike
    Posted October 29th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Mobile users can watch the video here It doesn't seem like that long ago that custom "bottom dock" BlackBerry themes were the "it" thing with theme developers anxious over a UI layout that seemed rather simple. After watching the clip above, you can truly see how quickly BlackBerry themes have progressed in the relatively short time span of 1-2 years. The particular them showcased above was created by "Z Man Designs" and is titled "Transitions". If you like the idea of organized and neatly...
  • Official BlackBerry Storm OS 5.0.0.238 mutilates custom themes! [Update -- Fix!]
    by Mike
    Posted October 27th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
**Update: There's a fix folks. Find it here. Disappointment for sure. It looks as if a nasty bug in the official BlackBerry 5.0 software renders custom BlackBerry Storm themes ugly and not quite so functional. The image above is from Kyle over at BlackBerry Cool and foreshadows a tidal wave of disappointment for all new BlackBerry Storm users who pick up a model with 5.0 pre-installed as well as those who have already upgraded. In this particular issue, the phone in question is the ...
  • Sense UI comes to BlackBerry
    by Mike
    Posted October 6th, 2009 at 8:44 am
The coolest BlackBerry theme (as far as OS copies go) is here. The Sense UI theme by Elecite is awesome. While Storm user will get the truest representation of the Android OS, horizontal display Berries are also supported. Per Elecite: The massive homescreen allows for 5-6 customizable icons, profiles/manage connections buttons, a Today page with hidden today items for phone log, messages and calendar icons, a Media page with quick access buttons to music, media and pictures, and finally...
  • Digital Pro [BlackBerry Theme]
    by Mike
    Posted September 10th, 2009 at 8:52 am
Hedone Design seems to be keeping a break neck pace on the theme front as they are churning out incredibly rich themes fairly often. Hey, I'm not complaining, I like change. The coolest part about their latest theme, "Digital Pro", is that it takes a more reserved approach as to not embarrass at the office. Even if you don't work in a stuffy, cold cubicle in some dark corner, this theme is sharp. Interested parties have two options with Digital Pro: V1 or V2. V1 features 6 user-customizab...
  • BlackBerry Theme: Dark Room

When I made BlackBerry themes just a couple years ago, I always loved making my own battery and signal meters. To me, a custom theme wasn't that that unique or cool unless cusotm icons were used. Moving forward, BlackBerry themes have moved forward exponentially in complexity and style with the latest themes completely blowing away anything I made. Likewise, the meters that are being created from various theme designers are truly innovative and unique. One such new theme that branches off ...
