  • Motorola: “AT&T nixed our Android devices”.
    by Mike
    Posted August 27th, 2009 at 9:36 am
Motorola was gearing up for a game changing holiday season fueled by new Android devices on all four major wireless carriers: AT&T;, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Sprint is rumored to be getting the HTC Hero any week now and T-Mobile already has two Android devices with a couple more on the way before years end. Verizon not to be left out is also set to have a pretty awesome Android handset that so far has gone by the name Shules. That leaves AT&T; the loner thus far as they don't currently se...
  • OS 5.0 leaked for Bold, Tour, and 8900
    by Mike
    Posted August 26th, 2009 at 6:41 am
While Bold users may still be recouping from the excitement the latest AT&T; update brought them, the more daredevilish users may be over and done with that already as they've likely had that firmware version for weeks now. While AT&T; is still messing around with oh so old 4.6 Bold firmware, the real action is in the 5.0 scene. Some brave developer or insider with special access to pre-release BlackBerry OS builds was kind enough to open the door and let loose versions of the 5.0 software for...
  • BlackBerry Bold getting firmware update. Visual Voicemail, 2G/3G mode toggle ensue.
    by Mike
    Posted August 25th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
BlackBerry Bold users rejoice, this afternoon will bring good fortune to you and your beloved piece of Canadian born hardware. RIM announced earlier that an update to the BlackBerry Bold firmware will bring two pretty big updates with it along with the usual performance fixes and other general bug fixes. But we don't care about those mundane bug fixes. Nooo sir (or mam). We care about the numero uno updates such as Visual Voicemail and 2G/3G mode selection... (more...)...
  • AT&T HTC Lancaster sent out to pasture before it even had a chance…?
    by Mike
    Posted August 19th, 2009 at 11:53 am
In all reality, the HTC Lancaster never had a chance. News is coming in that the HTC Lancaster, which was to be AT&T;'s first toe dipped into the Android market, has supposedly been shelved. Gasps! Now, if you were on the search for a lower to mid range Android device that would be a fairly decent texting device, you're no doubt in tears and looking for the anti-depressants. However, the majority of you who are complete geeks aren't too broken up as the HTC Lancaster was at best a low end p...
  • T-Mobile G1 may not get a trip to dessert buffet line?
    by Mike
    Posted August 17th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Hopeful T-Mobile G1 users who are currently slaving over the keyboards, anxiously awaiting more news and information on the upcoming Donut and Eclair Android updates may be slightly upset, distraught, and over all feeling like there's no point in living any longer when they find out that the G1 may not be able to partake of future Android updates. Gasps! (more...)...
  • BlackBerry Bold 9700 makes an appearance in ATT/Bell systems
    by Mike
    Posted August 17th, 2009 at 5:42 am
There's nothing like the sign of impending device releases like the first screen capture of a system inventory device list showing the latest and greatest from RIM making its way to market. The two carriers of interest are AT&T; and Bell. While new devices can appear up to 3-4 months before their actual scheduled release date, I'd say it's safe to assume an announcement and release within the next month. CrackBerry users who have been looking for something to upgrade to from their aging beau...
  • T-Mobile branded BlackBerry 9700 reveals itself to the camera
    by Mike
    Posted August 11th, 2009 at 5:24 am
This week is already starting to be a rather BlackBerry/RIM heavy week. This morning the news concerning the Canadian born gadgets features the newly re-numbered 9700. Kevin from CrackBerry was oh so lucky enough to actually spot a T-Mobile branded BlackBerry Bold 9700 cruising around the airport in NY and was even able to get a quick picture in. From the picture we can see that the trackpad has in fact made its way to the high end of RIM's product line and not a moment too soon I may add. ...
  • BlackBerry Bold 9020/Onyx/now 9700 gets official Bold branding
    by Mike
    Posted August 10th, 2009 at 11:07 am
The confusion and alphabet/numerical soup that has so far graced the BlackBerry Bold 9020 9700 can be laid to rest. Pictures of the new Blackberry Onyx leaked with the "Bold" branding have surfaced giving Crack addicts something more solid to gravitate towards. So far the Onyx has gone through a bevy of physical changes on it's track to becoming the 9700 including a trackball-to-track pad change, the whole issue revolving around the 9020/9700 numbering (I realize this isn't physical), a batt...
  • AT&T realizes their service sucks. Takes measures to prevent customer uprising. Denies you privileges to file class action lawsuit.
    by Mike
    Posted August 10th, 2009 at 10:43 am
You know, it's really starting to look like AT&T; really wants to be the asshole of the wireless world. Offering an absolutely shitty service, blocking 3rd party apps left and right, and now changing the ToS to deny customers from any type of class action service means AT&T; really hates you and knows they suck. Now before we get started, if you haven't read AT&T;'s ToS, (which is all of you), you may want to check out this wording over here. For those of you who simply cannot click another li...
  • 8GB iPhone 3GS pretty much confirmed on Rogers website [Not Quite/Maybe so/who knows]
    by Mike
    Posted August 10th, 2009 at 8:19 am
While Apple rarely comments on rumors, and rumors are in fact far from truth until some 1st party steps forward to make it official, the constant mentioning of an 8GB iPhone 3GS model is all but officially confirmed thanks to Rogers. As the screen capture above clearly shows, there is an 8GB iPhone 3GS listed in the comparison chart which means we can now start betting on when and how Apple will announce the new entry level 3GS. While I didn't upgrade to the 3GS from my 3G and have no intent...
  • Massive AT&T data outage
    by Mike
    Posted July 29th, 2009 at 7:01 am
Smartphone users and data chuggers on AT&T;'s network in the northeast and many parts of the midwest may just be waking up to a not so friendly AT&T; experience. Tweets are flying in from many spots across the eastern half of the U.S. of data being completely down. Here in northern Indiana my data seems to be fine as I just loaded a few websites on my iPhone to test the network. However my neighbors next door in Chicago seem to be affected. I consider myself lucky. Many of you however are n...
  • T-Mobile G2 coming on January 26th?
    by Mike
    Posted December 19th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Boy Genius has received information that the 2nd generation of the T-Mobile Android phone will be released on January 26th. Without any other talk about this anywhere else its hard to take this too seriously. However, BG is pretty good at predicting things so I'll leave that up to you. Spec wise it knocks the G1 flat on its face. Some of the important upgrades are 5 megapixel camera a second VGA camera for video calls (TMO is supposed to be launching a video call service in late January...
