  • Droid Eris (Desire) coming to Verizon on November 6th!
    by Mike
    Posted October 23rd, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Talk about fast! The Motorola Sholes (Droid) hasn't even been announced *officially* and now we have this second Android device coming to Verizon. Word is that "Droid" is not simply the latest and greatest Android phone to come to Verizon. Droid is actually the series name meaning many more "Droid" handsets such as the Verizon Eris (Desire) will come through the pipeline. Speaking of the Eris, it's being released on November 6th. No fancy announcement or hype building which is kind of odd s...
  • SIM card packin’ CDMA phones coming to the states?
    by Mike
    Posted October 9th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
The recent showcasing of several CDMA handsets powered by SIM cards at the CTIA Wireless trade show means our geeky friends on other continents across the globe may soon be experiencing the best of both worlds some would say -- never ending coverage and quick swaps between devices. The devices shown at CITA such as the Samsung Mpower 699 use a newer form of the aged RUIM SIM card called "OHM". The biggest change between the older RUIM cards and newer OHM cards is that the latter allow users to...
  • Verizon and Google share the same bed

Who woulda thunk it? While a mere 360 days ago (give or take a few days) these two companies were battling it out over the 700 MHz spectrum rules, they have apparently found common ground and then some -- high school drama I say. The big surprise is the fact that Verizon is doing something no one else in the mobile sphere is doing and actually paying attention to the market, their customers, and what said entities want. They are watching all of this negative backlash directed at AT&T; and Ap...
  • Verizon bound Motorola Sholes gets new name, specs.
    by Mike
    Posted October 1st, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Well well well. Verizon junkies and Android hopefuls have something to get all hot and bothered over tonight. First up, the Motorola Sholes as it has been called up until this point apparently has a new name: "Droid". I know, you're thinking "how original". The name whether it is Motorola Sholes, Motorola Droid, or whatever else they decide to call it is irrelevant as all we really care about is the specs. What's it packin'? 3.7" 854×480 WVGA capacitive screen (Awesome!) ARM Cortex 500...

While I could go on and on with senseless ramblings and other useless banter, just taking a minute to stop and really take in what is above you right now is more important. We'll leave on a good note by saying that the upcoming Android love on Verizon has a very nice home on the Sholes. *Picks up drool cup* BGR...
  • Sprint does one for the little guy. Drops Touch Pro2 down to $199 [Update]
    by Mike
    Posted September 30th, 2009 at 8:06 am
Even though I'm not very well versed (read: not at all) in the Windows Mobile world, the Touch Pro2 is a striking handset with good looking hardware and some pretty decent specs to boot. The sky high price tag a couple retailers such as Sprint and T-Mobile were charging was a huge sticking point however. Sure the TP2 is a good phone, but is it $349 good? Many and I would venture to say most would claim "No". Noticing the math error, Sprint has gone ahead and restored some sense of civility t...
  • About that Verizon != Pre thing….*just kidding*

Hey...you can't always get them right. And this one we apparently did not. Following yesterdays reporting from multiple sources that for reasons unknown, Verizon was going to pass on the Palm Pre are looking to be a bit...well..false. Several respectable sources such as The Street and Deutsche Bank’s Jonathan Goldberg are saying yesterdays scare doesn't have much weight. Mr. Goldberg in particular stressed that the Verizon/Pre fallout wasnt accurate and that demand is still healthy enough ...
  • Verizon decides against Palm Pre. iPhone deal behind closed doors? Palm gets a face smack.

*Rumor & Speculation warning.....!* I'm sure you've seen the articles detailing the recent smackdown Verizon dealt to Palm. If not...here's a very quick recap. Verizon was more than likely prepping to get the Pre early next year bringing Verizon customers one of their first tastes of a "modern" smartphone. However, that same company that was bragging about having the Pre right around Sprint's launch is now singing a very different tune as the are reported to now be passing over the Pre.....
  • Instinct HD gets spied. Junior 15 collects at the waist — really.
    by Mike
    Posted September 24th, 2009 at 5:30 am
In what can't really be seen as a good quality, spied pictures of the Instinct HD stuck between a piece of glass and it's own box are racing around the web this morning showing one very weird character trait. The Instinct HD went off it's diet and instead appears to have packed on the pounds. The mystery shooter of the pictures even went on to say that "it felt like a bloated s30 in your hands". Take it how you want to but when you get called fat and not so nice to hold, something isn't right...
  • Verizon to snag 3 2 Android handsets by years end?
    by Mike
    Posted September 17th, 2009 at 7:09 am
You're speculation/rumor light should be going full bore right now as what is about to be presented to you is pretty lofty though not so much so that it is completely unbelievable. Starting off, the rumor is based off of a DigiTimes article (please bare with me...give it a chance) that Verizon will be launching both the HTC Desire and HTC Passion (Google phone) in the 4th quarter, bringing the end of year Android count to 3. The reason for the speculation and thought provoking conversation c...
