  • Asetek reveals all-in-one liquid-cooled powerhouse!

Besides Apple's iMac, all-in-one computers haven't really seen any "Messiah" if you will. HP has pushed out a few gimmicky touchscreen all-in-one's with a smattering of attempts by other manufacturers too. But nothing that comes remotely close to the iMac's design or power in a neat package has come to light. That is, until Asetek took the wraps off of their new all-in-one prototype: A liquid-cooled power house featuring an Intel Core i7 920 and graphics provided by an Nvidia GTX 280M. F...

Now that Steam has been ported over to work with Mac OS X and after ATI, Nvidia, and several other hardware manufacturers have promised increased focus on the Mac platform, it's only a matter of time before Macs become legitimate gaming machines. But until then, you can put that iMac of yours to good use with the Belkin AV360 adapter. This handy little box of magic will allow you to plug in your Xbox 360 or PS3 in via HDMI, turning said signal into a usable mini Display Port for use with yo...
  • Macbook Air refresh and new 27″ display to tag team our hopes and dreams?

The focus on consumers' pockets and minds may be on blazing fast notebooks and gargantuan desktop's ala iMac, but a large group of people still want something slim, light, and ultra portable. The iPad would seem like an option, but the iPhone OS is rather limited in the sense that it's not a full desktop OS and some people just don't like tablets. Back in 2008, Apple's answer was the Macbook Air. It wasn't released without much criticism however. It seemed that you were either for it or ag...
  • Liquid cooling come to future iMacs, Macs in general? Eh…don’t get too excited…yet.

As Apple transitions more towards actual desktop processors in the iMac line, heat is going to be an issue. The next logical step would be to add water cooling. But such setups take up pretty generous amounts of room -- something the iMac doesn't really have much of. But when there's a will, there's a way. A patent filed way back in '06 showed Apple to be working on a type of iMac water cooled dock. While a dock and an actual iMac implementation are two completely different things, as proce...
  • 27″ iMac’s still broken. Wait time increases to 3 weeks. Unicorns and angels everywhere wheep…

When I first spied upon with my very own eyes, the visual beauty that is the new 27" iMac's, I was pretty bummed I wouldn't be clicking "order" anytime soon. It appears however my inability to actually afford the whole grail of all-in-one's isn't without it's benefits -- namely not paying upwards of two grand and countless returns/refurbs getting a bumb model. The ever persistent yellow display problem is still running strong. Tech support at Apple is clueless, Steve Jobs is clueless, and G...
  • The “iMac” could have been the “MacMan”

Are you an Apple junkie? Hell, are you a Windows fan and still simply finding yourself awestruck over the new 27" iMac and it's large flat glassy areas, beckoning your name and asking your to stare until the sun goes down? For the majority of people who buy computers, they buy them because of the specs. I would say a pretty favorable portion of their user base buy their computers not necessarily because they are almost always near the top of the line, but also because they look good. Getti...
  • Watch Blu-rays and play your Xbox 360/PS3 on the new 27″ iMac

Increasing reports of broken, defective, and all out f'd up 27" iMac display problems aside, sometimes we just want to use that 2560 x 1440 of super hi-def goodness for things other than your typical computing needs. For starters, Blu-ray on such a screen would be a great start. Don't have a hi-def TV or are tired of looking at two different screens -- one for TV one for computing? Thankfully Apogee will soon be debuting their own HDMI to mDP adapter that will allow you oh so lucky 27" iMac u...
  • Core i7 equipped iMacs seeing shipping woes?
    by Mike
    Posted November 24th, 2009 at 5:33 am
Broken glass and black displays -- not exactly the thing you want to see on a $2,000+ computer you just sold an organ for and waited what seems like eons. Reports from around the web are slowly trickling out this morning as more and more Core i7 Mac users start receiving their units. While not extremely high, the number of reported problems with either cracked glass or a unit simply refusing to turn on is above normal. Apple is supposedly replacing the units quickly and without much question ...
  • Core i7 (Upgrade) equipped iMac’s: The best $200 ever spent…

Results above are in 64-bit modeWhen the new iMac's were announced a couple months back, I like many of you were awestruck. The form was somehow even more delicious than previous generations with upgraded hardware that left me wanting two. Unfortunately for those who were ready to throw down cash on the spot for a new Core i7 beast, a November shipping date put a temporary block on the speed party. Well, it's November and said units are now shipping with benchmarks starting to trickle in. Wh...
  • Apple iMac, Macbook, and Magic Mouse updates!

Where to start. I guess we'll lead of with the smallest and work our way up. Magic Mouse First on the line, the new Magic Mouse brings multi-touch/gesture to the mouse world. Operation is as one would expect, 2 finger swipes and pinches do all sorts of panning, zooming, and moving actions on your screen. The Mighty Mouse isn't so mighty anymore (was it ever?) Macbook The bargain basement Macbook, once $999, is still....$999. What happened to "newer" and "cheaper" products? To be fai...
