Hey Preppie, What Is That Picture Frame Doing In Your TrapperKeeper?

  • July 28, 2011 3:38 am

Remember the 80s and 90s - running up and down the halls with your new trapper keeper? Every year it would be a new design: sports, cool sunglasses or awesome lamborghinis and ferraris. No matter what it looked like, it always made you feel like your acid wash jeans didn’t stink. Here we are - 2011 and all the stinkin rottin brats out there are running around with smartphones, laptops and iPads. They don’t have to write anymore. Most kids nowadays have no idea what a pen is. Apple knows this, hence approving apps that let you draw/write with your fingers. ZooGue also are aware of our lazy children, which is why they designed the BinderPad Case.

In all my travels I have yet to come across a case for the iPad that fits right into a 3ring binder. Nothing special - other than the flap with 3 holes. Your normal every day sleeve with the necessary screen and button cut outs. With Dark Grey and Black finishes, this polyester baby weighs in at a nice little 3.5oz and only a 1/2″ thick. Not much extra bulk adding to the already bulky 3 rink binder you have to carry around. AT $29.99usd - the price can’t be beat. With most colleges and schooles requiring something digital over paper, what better way to study up than with a brand new case for your iPad 2!

Apple’s iPad 2 Jailbreak Is Out And About [Updated]

  • July 2, 2011 11:22 am

*Update* chpwn has tweeted that the version was completely broken and unstable - so much that @saurik said that if @comex release it that way, he’d have to tell people not to use it!
———-
It seems the iPad 2 jailbreak Comex created a few short months ago was leaked onto the interwebs overnight. Redmond Pie is reporting that a private beta tester is the one that leaked the new Jailbreak information. Of course - like before - this is completely web based. All you’ll need is the iPad and an internet connection. An image that Comex released via his twitter a few weeks ago showed a man skiing, with a sign that had the letters ‘pdf’ on it - most likely referring to the pdf exploit used in the JailbreakMe tool. The current jailbreak site is the web address - www.ipad2jailbreakpdf.weebly.com - Looks like a new pdf exploit has worked!

The current ‘release’ is only compatible with iOS 4.3 - so if you have fully updated your iPad 2 to 4.3.3, you’ll have to sit and wait. Now since Comex wasn’t the one that actually released this, and once he is done beating up his beta testers we’ll have to see what he says. I think this might be dangerous - Now that it is out, Apple can dig into the exploit he is using and fix it before it’s official release. If Comex was going to wait until he could port it to the latest and greatest iOS release, this could cause some problems in it’s development.

Hop on inside for a video that will walk you through the process - Remember though, this isn’t an official release, so we’d recommend you completely back up your iPad 2 in case anything goes wrong. But the reports coming in are saying it works, only on 4.3 that is, and it is a real Jailbreak. Let us know in the comments if it has worked for you - Both GSM and CDMA versions.

Ultramods Use iPad 2 + Garageband To Make Entire Album.

  • April 5, 2011 6:47 am

Remember when the iPhone 4 came out with its higher resolution video recording capabilities with iMovie and a few artists/bands made news for recording entire music videos? That’s still an impressive feat considering the iPhone 4 is a phone. But the new taker of the cake has done this ultra simplistic music creation gig one better.

The indie punk-pop group Ultramods have just released a new CD dubbed “Underwear Party” which was completely recorded and composed on an iPad 2 using the new Garageband app. $505 (lowest model iPad 2 + $5 Garageband price) is certainly an affordable way to make potential millions on musical works. If anything, it just goes to show how ever evolving technology is constantly changing the world as well as lowering the entrance cost of various services. For wannabe musicians, examples such as Ultramod should be a good motivation to get the creative juices flowing.

iPad 2 Processor Clocks In At 900MHz.

  • March 12, 2011 9:13 pm

The iPad 2 was long rumored to have a dual-core ARM processor humming along at 1GHz. But alas, the truth has come out and it’s not quite so true. The iPad 2′s dual-core ARM processor is actually clocked at 900MHz per core, this according to Anandtech. Is 100MHz going to make a huge difference? Hardly. Apple likely had battery life in mind when it reigned in speeds slightly. How are all the new iPad 2 owners enjoying their new tablet beauty tonight?

iPad 2 Comes Out To Play With The Camera.

As much as Apple loves to keep secrets, it makes us consumers happy when information about their latest and greatest leaks out. Case in point: the upcoming iPad 2. From the image above (and following images after the jump) we can tell that Apple managed to trim down the overall footprint of their Jesus Tablet by a few millimeters here and there. Overall, the iPad 2 is boxier than its predecessor and features shorter, yet still tapered edges. We should know very soon whether these so called iPad 2 images are in fact legit. But assuming they are, what do the fine readers of GS think? Personally, I’m still waiting for the hardware info before I make any judgement calls. More images after the jump…
