DJ/Producer David Guetta releases iPhone app.

David who? Here in the states, this Paris born DJ and music producer may not ring a lot of bells. I have to say that I love sampling music from all of the world on a daily basis. While I haven’t sat down and listened to any of David’s work, I have at least heard of him in my digital journey. Other notable mentions for David Guetta include producing the Black Eyed Peas hit song “I’ve Got A Feeling” as well as a lifetime of DJ’ing throught Paris and France. In a move that many more artists should explore, David, in collaboration with MXP4 and Redshift is releasing his own iPhone app.

At first, the move may seem kind of gimmicky, almost like a ploy to simply grab a couple more dollars of your cash by making an “app” that simply lets your listen to a few songs, stream some content, and read some bios. Thankfully those behind the app realize such half hearted attempts aren’t generally well received and that an honest attempt at a good iPhone app is the best course of action.

A few of the features included within the app:

  • MXP4 MIX IT and REMIX IT solutions: Allows fans to remix and play with the smash hit ‘Sexy Chick.’
  • TOUR TRACKER: An interactive, real-time world map that shows where David is mixing and DJing. Fans are able to connect with and share location, pictures and comments.
  • REAL TIME UPDATES: Live feed of updates, photos, videos and tweets directly from David Guetta

Ok, so the feed’s may be kind of common in this type of app. But the tracking and social aspects are pretty cool. What do you think? Worth a look? Want to see more artists releasing mobile apps that go above and behind a simple digital booklet? I know I do.

Google Analytics iPhone app giving you bad password/username errors? There’s a reason…

Frequent users of Google’s Analytics iPhone app may have noticed that when trying to log into the app as of late brings up a “bad username or password error”. Don’t worry. It isn’t your fault — probably. According to the Google Analytics support, there is a known issue with the current version of the app. A fix is in the making however with an update scheduled for October 29th if everything goes according to plan.

I’ve been getting the bad pass/user error for about a week and a half now and haven’t heard a peep. A more viral announcement would have been nice. But it’s quite possible I somehow missed it so I wont fret. I initially chalked up to network issues as coverage is flaky where I live. No hard feelings though. The fix is coming soon and reported to be free. (A good thing!)

GoSatWatch for iPhone. Watch satellites with ease

If you are a close astronomer and love everything about space and the surrounding heavens, chances are you just may like to watch or track our very own man made satellites as they orbit by.  Doing so with the naked eye or even a fancy telescope can sometimes be difficult.  Thankfully there are creative iPhone developers who slave away in front of a computer for hours while the star gazers are outside having fun.  The fruits of their slaving?  GoSatWatch.  With this app, locating and tracking satellites is exponentially easier and even fun.  With special tabs for certain celestial objects such as the international space station make tracking the more popular objects even easier.  The app will pinpoint your location based on the iPhones built-in GPS in which you can have satellite tracks overlaid on the map showing just how close satellites are actually coming to your location.  All-in-all, star gazers and space nuts should definitely check out GoSatWatch.

iPhone Palringo app updated to include location, distance, and maps

Palringo has been in my opinion one of the better free messaging apps for the iPhone.  It has a ton of features that the more expensive paid apps sometimes lack, or has had those features longer than the paid versions.  The developers of Palringo are not sitting down though as a new version has been released.  Starting today, when you look down your contact list in Palringo you can see your Palringo friends’ location, in the form of a city name, as well as how far away that contact is from you.  Pretty neat feature!  Not extremely useful per say, but a fun tid bit of information none the less.  Further updates of Palringo will include an option to click on that friends location which will in turn bring up a map showing the exact location of that friend as well as all of you other contacts within a 10km radius.  I for one will be looking forward to the update.

What’s your take on more and more apps including mapping features?  Are they usefull? Worthless? Or just time wasters?  Shout out below.

iBluetooth turns iPhone into file transferring beast.

Besides copy/paste, what is one of the other most often requested updates to be included?  If you answered Bluetooth file transfers you would be correct.  Yes it’s really here.  However, like all great revelations for the iPhone, jailbreaking is a must…Apple just loves their iron grip.  Who do you thank for this little feat of awesomeness?  MeDevil from iSpazio is the developer responsible for freeing up the iPhone just a little more.  Those looking to start swapping files will have to wait a tad longer as the app is not quite available yet.  Soon folks…soon!
