  • Pre/card-like app switching and process management comes to iPhone

To get any background functionality out of your iPhone, you know Jailbreaking is involved. So if the process is too much for you to handle or you're too paranoid about all of the "What ifs", go ahead and continue on anyway. The Palm Pre and webOS have one of the most visually pleasing and effective ways of managing running processes with the use of "cards". It's fast and easy to keep the clutter down and your phone operating in tip top shape. That same convenience can now be had by jailbroke...
  • Viva la jailbreak!

I'm sure by now you've seen at least half a dozen tech sites retracting their doubts (if they had any) about so called newer, "un-jailbreakable" iPhone 3GS's. The fact of the matter is that it isn't true. The bootrom as we mentioned earlier was indeed updated. But come on. Did you really think the jailbreaking community was going to sit idly by while Apple walks all over their miniature world in their pocket? Even though I was a bit worried too, I'm glad my gut instincts came true and that ...
  • Even iPhone accessory manufacturers love jailbreaking. Not even trying to hide it.

So this 3000 mAh external battery charger for the iPhone has been making its way across site after site this morning and early afternoon. While the specs that it brings are worth mentioning: 500 hours standby, 8.5 hours talk/cellular based internet, 40 hours audio, 11 hours video, and 10 hours WiFI browsing, the real crowing jewel is in the press shot. See that in the lower right corner? It's a Cydia icon. So what's the significance of this? Absolutely nothing. Just something I found a t...
  • Purple sn0w released…NOT to be confused with redsn0w, ultrasn0w or Dev-Team
    by Mike
    Posted July 14th, 2009 at 11:51 am
Now, before you get confused and start mixing up developers, hacker groups and software, let me clear the confusion if any exists: Purple sn0w is developed by George Holtz, the same guy who brought us purple ra1n. The Dev-team brings us widely known pieces of work such as yellow sn0w, red sn0w, and ultrasn0w (3GS support). Why 'ol Georgey boy picked purple sn0w isn't too hard to guess. Still, you have to admire his determination to do his own thing...right? In regards to purple sn0w, it is...
  • Palm more consumer/jailbreak friendly?
    by Mike
    Posted June 24th, 2009 at 6:05 am
While Apple has time and time again negatively talked about jailbreaking, even going as far as to saying that it is illegal, Palm it seems is taking a different approach. A recent statement from Palm says: “We recognize that some developers will experiment in ways that cross official boundaries, but we believe that our formal offerings – and community efforts built around those offerings – will provide the best experience for the vast majority of webOS developers and users.” Tha...
  • ultrasn0w released. All pre-iPhone 3GS devices free to the world!

Don't even try to hide the fact that you, like most everyone else love the freedom. (Duh). In regards to the oh so popular iPhone/3G, the Dev-Team has finally released the ultrasn0w software package that will free your iPhone from it's carrier shackles. All you have to do is jailbreak your phone using redsn0w or Pwnage Tool 3.0, go to Cydia or Icy and add the repo: , and finally search for ultrasn0w. Install said package, reboot your phone and get ready to enjoy the f...
  • Latest iTunes 8.2 update breaks all things holy and right with the world [jailbreak = fail]
    by Mike
    Posted June 2nd, 2009 at 2:48 pm
If you like to live life illegally and by the seat of your pants, upgrading to iTunes 8.2 could bring your law breaking fun to a quick halt.  The USB protocols under the latest iTunes update have received a little TLC rendering all current methods of jailbreaking worthless and futile.  What is a renegade to do?  Don't upgrade...yet!  The Dev Team is promising that updates will come, however they won't release anything until iPhone OS 3.0 is final as why spin your wheels only to have your...
  • Apple still hates jailbreaking, further pushing to outlaw it.
    by Mike

If you are an iPhone user who realizes the true potential of the iPhone and how Apple is ruining the all time greatness that they could have, you soon may be labeled an outlaw if Apple and various copyright corporations have anything to say about it.  The players involved specifically, Apple’s iPhone marketing czar Greg Joswiak, Fred von Lohmann, the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s copyright genius, Copyright Office officials including but not limited to registrar Marybeth Peters, the ...
  • Push notifications will never equal true background app support!
    by Mike
    Posted April 10th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Apple's Push notifications while grossly past due from their original due date of last year, were at least delayed for good reason.  At the iPhone OS 3.0 preview, Apple stated the delay was because of "developers suggesting ideas and methods of implementing the push service that they had never thought of", which in return required a complete re-write of the service, hence the massive delay.  Apple's stubbornness (or innovative thinking, depending on who you talk to) to support background...

If you were an iPod Touch 2nd gen owner who was always feeling jealous of your 1st gen brethren, today is your day.  Labeld "beta o' clock by The Dev-Team who have been hard at work for weeks upon weeks, has finally pushed out redsn0w in beta form.  What does this mean?  Well you can now enjoy some of the finer things in life such as background running apps, UI customization through themes, as well as a ton of apps that have been banned in Apple's official app store.  Yes today is a gran...
  • Dev Team doesn’t waste time…iPhone OS 3.0 already Jailbroken
    by Mike
    Posted March 20th, 2009 at 10:25 am
In what is good news if not slightly comical, the Dev Team has announced that Apple's just announced iPhone 3.0 OS has already sucomb to their almighty knowledge and has been jailbroken.  Don't get too excited though as the 3.0 OS isn't even publicly available yet.  Though the lucky developers get to get their hands on it early.  Still, the Dev Team is saying that they are waiting until Apple releases 3.0 to release their Jailbreak.  It's probably a good thing if you ask me.  You don'...
  • Centralized payment system coming to Cydia
    by Mike
    Posted March 6th, 2009 at 8:24 am
Any iPhone user will know that Apple is severely limiting the iPhone feature wise. First there was Installer for jailbroken iPhones that allowed you to unlock the full potential of your iDevice.   Now on OS 2.0, there is another player in the 3rd party app store market: Cydia. While Installer and Cydia are both added at the time of jailbreaking, Cydia seems to have taken the lead in popularity.  Regardless, both stores offer great choices that sadly will never see the light of day insid...
