Sony’s “Idou” 12.1 megapixel behemoth starts the MWC party a little early.

  • February 15, 2009 4:13 pm

Mobile photographers have a new love to lust after starting…now!  It seems as if with every passing week, the crown of “highest megapixel toting camera phone” constantly gets shuffled around.  With MWC just around the corner, that crown shuffling is sure to go into over drive.  In the measly sea full of lesser desirable phones, phones with such “low quality” CMOS chips that max out at a laughable 4,5, and even 6 megapixels are getting quickly beaten down with a 12.1 megapixel monster.  This monster is Sony’s new Idou camera phone that was released this afternoon in Barcelona.  The Idou phone is the latest and greatest in the Sony Ericsson lineup that is aimed at claiming that highly coveted megapixel crown and is being released under Sony’s new “Ultimate Entertainment” development.  For a few features of the 12.1 monster as well as information on Sony’s new development in progress, “Ultimate Entertainment”, hop on through!

T-Mobile dressed Samsung Memoir caught!

  • January 27, 2009 6:52 pm

The Samsung Memoir is one of the few phones to sport an 8MP shooter!  usually those kinds of Megapixels don’t make it state side.  However, the U.S. is finally starting to get some camera phone love.  If you are a mobile photographer and the idea of toting 8MP on your phone excites you beyond belief, calm down.  You don’t have too much longer to wait as the cited release date is February 25th.  See, not that far off now is it?  With so many megapixels interested persons will obviously have to pay a little extra for the privilege.  Pricing starts at $300 with a two-year contract after a $50 rebate.  A couple goodies besides the MP count is the fact that the Memoir will be carrying a xenon flash and 16x digital zoom!  Granted digital zoom is worthless if quality matters to you, but if you just have to get that split second close up, you should be covered.  Besides these rather exciting features, you can expect 3G, GPS, and a full HTML browser.  Get your wallets ready!

Samsung bringing the Pixon to U.S.!

  • December 15, 2008 1:53 pm

Samsung is finally starting to send some decent phones are way.  The Pixon *insert catchy yet completely ridiculous name here* is coming to the US as an 8 megapixel camera phone with support for U.S. 3g bands.  “Multimedia” phones such as the pixon are still a rare appearance in America.  They either get stripped of any interesting features before coming to the U.S., if coming here at all.  Thankfully Samsung used some common sense and neglected to cram WinMo on this phone.  The Samsung OS looks pretty nifty.  All I can say is I will be  heading to AT&T as soon as it comes out to put it through its paces.
