  • Bitbop to become “Hulu for mobiles”?
    by Mike
    Posted May 26th, 2010 at 10:12 pm
Hulu is currently on a war path of sorts, with it's content owners closing up holes, cramming in advertisements and effectively killing all the reasons consumers loved the service in the first place. Even worse is the fact that those same content owners (motivated by greed of course) are butchering Hulu's transgression to mobiles. Bad for them, good for us. Where Hulu is letting us mobile users down, Fox's new "Bitbop" will pick up the slack... (more...)...
  • LauncherPro Beta: The no-nonsense, smooth, simple Android home replacement…that you need!

    Posted May 26th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Android users: are you tired of home screen replacements that over promise and under deliver? Yeah, me too. But there's hope -- LauncherPro Beta. LPB is simple -- there aren't any bloated features that bring your phone to a crawl. Simply choose how many screens you want, toggle on/off auto-rotate, and config two other options. That's it. But the best part is the speed. Finally, a default looking Android homescreen replacement without skins, super smooth scrolling (better than HTC's Sense...

Any normal person disguising themselves as a geek can pick up those cute little USB nerf turrets. While cool and easily able to keep me busy for half the working day, sometimes you just want more. Once you graduate from such novelty gifts and work your way into bigger and better things, the stakes get bigger and the ammunition becomes more powerful. What exactly do you have to look forward to? iPod-controlled coil guns... (more...)...
  • Holiday Inn testing smartphone room keys.

    Posted May 25th, 2010 at 7:02 pm
Say goodbye to the old days of carrying around yet another piece of plastic while staying at your local Holiday Inn. Room keys will soon be a thing of the past. This concept isn't hard to believe really. As technology and electronics evolve, it was only a matter of time before something better came along. I don't exactly know what I was thinking of as far as "high tech" room keys go. But the solution coming forth from Holiday Inn is pretty neat. Instead of any type of "card", users can l...
  • Nvidia announces the GeForce GTX480m. Melting laptops soon coming to a lap near you…

As much as I joke about Fermi and the insane power demands/heat output, the results from Fermi-based cards while not mind blowing are intriguing none the less. Desktops have had their way with the GTX470 and 480 for several weeks now so it's only right that laptop users get their own turn. And so they shall... (more...)...
  • iPod Touch w/ 2 megapixel camera blows it’s cover.
    by Mike
    Posted May 19th, 2010 at 9:14 am
Boy oh boy, I bet el Jobso is getting pissed. First it was his baby, the iPhone's 4th rendition and now this, the next gen iPod Touch complete with 2 megapixel camera. One interesting tidbit is that of the serial number. IT originates from late-2009 meaning it could be one of those infamous 3rd gen units that was leaked on eBay and never made it to see the light of day. Other than that, the usual diagnostic software and geeky curiosity surround this leaked device. Think we're lookin...
  • iPhone 4.0 beta spills the beans, tethering coming…for real?
    by Mike
    Posted May 18th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
And there you have it folks. The latest iPhone 4.0 beta software with tethering conveniently stuffed in. Unfortunately, AT&T; will charge you twice if you do so choose to go the tethering route, double dippin' all the way to the bank. For the majority of tech savvy iPhone users whom have had tethering unlocked for months, this isn't news... (more...)...
  • HTC HD2 moving closer to Android debut.
    by Mike
    Posted May 18th, 2010 at 8:52 am
The HTC HD2 is a wondrous piece of technology with it's only big short fall being the WinMo ball&chain; attached at various limbs. The talented dev community however has something to say -- the HTC HD2 is close to dual booting Android goodness. The video inside outlines all the nicks and nacks of the procedure and should be used as caution to not get too excited just yet as there are still a fair amount of bugs -- like an unsightly lack of pretty much all the important drivers. But once al...
  • Android making it’s way to iPod Touch
    by Mike
    Posted May 16th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
I can see Steve Jobs' eyes bleeding as we speak -- Android is coming to the iPod Touch. This is of course completely unofficial. The same talented hackers who whipped up Android on the 3GS are bringing the wonder OS to Apple's AT&T-less; iDevice, offering up the Android love to an even larger population. No time frame for release is given. But according to the dudes in charge, we can expect to see something tangible (figuratively) in the not too distant future. Any iPod Touch users feeling ...
  • Steve Jobs unleashes on blogger over App Store, iPhone platform restrictions, and yes — porn.
    by Mike
    Posted May 16th, 2010 at 12:50 am
I have plenty of my own issues with the App Store and Apple's increasingly growing iron grip surrounding the iPhone platform. But have I emailed the CEO, Steve Jobs himself and attempted to verbally attack him? No. Though some would say my often critical remarks as of late are more or less the same thing. However you feel, there's no denying that Apple has catapulted to the forefront of countless minds for both noble and shady practices alike. Ryan Tate is one blogger in the pool of m...
