  • USB flash drive constructed out of old Mac keyboard.

    Posted July 26th, 2010 at 7:17 am
If you happen to have an old Mac keyboard or two sitting around the house, why not get crafty and USB-ify it? Stuffing USB flash drive internals into mundane objects is the latest rage. But you know what, I love it. Many years from now, geeks will compare their flash drive collection as a sort of "right of passage". No joke, I want this. If DIY isn't your cup of tea, thesleekgeek (Etsy) will happily do the grunt work for you, $60 donation provided of course. So what do you say: DIY or p...
  • The Game Boy Game Flash Drive
    by Mike
    Posted June 9th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
We've highlighted plenty of game cartridge/console mods in the past. I'm sure we've even done some similar to the Game Boy cartridge flash drive you see above. Though, if I can be brutally honest, I've got the memory of a gold fish. No joke. So if it's managed to slip my memory, forgive me. Either way, forgotten or not, the Game Boy Cartridge Flash Drive is right up there with the NES controller flash drive in terms of coolness. Although, the Teddy Bear Flash Drive is another runner up...
  • Quite possibly the greatest flash drive ever: The Teddy Drive
    by Mike
    Posted May 27th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
I'm honestly at a loss for words here. Food will probably taste better, odors smell more distinct, and colors more vibrant now that I have seen this Teddy Drive. Of course, the poor bear won't ever taste, smell, or see anything again. But that's besides the point. I really don't see how this can be topped. I have a sort of sick, twisted humor that finds headless bears crammed into computers funny. Forgive me if that offends you. Though I really don't care. That's just good stuff righ...
  • The 256GB Kingston DT310 Flash drive.

    Posted March 4th, 2010 at 1:41 pm
When even 11 isn't far enough -- Kingston has a beast of a flash drive with their latest DT310 usb device. Some geeks may be bragging of their new 128GB flash drive that they just picked up recently, boasting of their supreme nerdiness. At the top they are no more for Kingston has a new 256GB DT310 drive that now dwarfs the latest attempts of only a few other manufacturers. At 256GB, the drive is easily larger than a fair selection of lower end netbook and even many laptop hard drives. A big...
  • “Be careful with those…” Star Wars lightsaber flash drives.

    Posted February 24th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
"Lightsaber flash drives" you say with abated breath and a racing heart. Yes, your very own futuristic death sword retired and sent back into the working world as a lowly flash drive. The storage size is a bit puny as far as modern flash drives go -- only 1GB -- but that shouldn't stop the most obsessed Star Wars fans. The icing on the cake comes in the form of exterior illumination when plugged in. For only $20 at ThinkGeek, why not? [gallery link="file" columns="3"] NerdApproved...
  • Lose your head and risk losing your data: The USB Surgeon Flash Drive.
    by Mike
    Posted December 15th, 2009 at 6:36 am
Have you heard the old saying "You'd lose your head if it wasn't attached?" I can be pretty forgetful. In fact, I'd venture on to say that I have the memory resembling that of a goldfish -- simple, quick, and short. Hell, notes I write to remember things either get forgotten themselves or lost in the shuffle of the daily grind we call life. Yet somehow I still manage. You see, my head is still attached so I couldn't ever possibly get too lost. Though my little surgeon friend here won't...
  • Keep your membrane entertained throughout the day: Maze Pen
    by Mike
    Posted June 25th, 2009 at 11:09 am
We've all had days where time just seems to draaaaaaaaag along, each second seems like an hour. When you've already finished playing eye spy with yourself, counting the dots on the ceiling, (we've all done it), and walking laps around the office, why not get something that will keep you entertained and happy for at least another 30 seconds? The Maze Pen will do just that. While your long term sanity is still screwed, with copious amounts of boredom to soon follow, at least for the few minut...
  • Unleash your inner James Bond with the USB Spy Pen
    by Mike
    Posted April 21st, 2009 at 5:40 am
James Bond is perhaps one of the greatest heros of all time for many boys and grown men alike.  He gets all of the ladies, vacation hot spots, and most importantly, the gadgets.  For years boys and men alike have drooled at the TV screen with each new gadget that Bond ads to his arsenal, dreaming of an imaginary life in which they too could hold that gadget in their hand, whatever it may be, and for a moment live the life of bond.  If said dream corresponds more or less with your thought ...
