  • webOS training at VZW stores starts. Pre/Pixie launch can’t be too far off.

Back when the Palm Pre was launched, Sprint boasted of their exclusive deal with Palm concerning webOS. (A lot of good that did them...) Verizon countered with an "end of year" release of webOS themselves. Obviously they were a bit too excited as Sprint ended up being correct -- that Verizon wasn't getting any webOS love until 2010. Well, 2010 is just around the corner and tonight we can now feast our eyes upon the very training documents VZW employees are currently consuming, prepping f...
  • Pre/card-like app switching and process management comes to iPhone

To get any background functionality out of your iPhone, you know Jailbreaking is involved. So if the process is too much for you to handle or you're too paranoid about all of the "What ifs", go ahead and continue on anyway. The Palm Pre and webOS have one of the most visually pleasing and effective ways of managing running processes with the use of "cards". It's fast and easy to keep the clutter down and your phone operating in tip top shape. That same convenience can now be had by jailbroke...
  • Palm Pixie and webOS 1.3.1 strut their stuff for the camera…

The Palm Pre isn't even that old yet and already we're looking at what can replace it. Can Palm's lower end device dubbed "Pixie" attract more followers with it's lower price point? It's a mixed bag for me. Sure it's cheaper, but I'd rather have the Pre's form factor. The Pixie just looks weird -- too long and cheaply made. Then again I'm one person. Give the vid above a look and see if the as of now unreleased Pixie and webOS 1.3.1 have anything hidden that could change your mind. En...
  • Yup, you guessed it. iTunes 9.0.2 kills Pre sync.

Ben and Jerry was one of my favorite cartoons growing up. For me, it was the whole stereotypical cat vs. mouse thing that always had me hooked. Now that I'm a big boy, (some may dispute that) I still watch cat and mouse drama every day. Except now it isn't a cartoon. It's a bit more "real". Ladies and gents, I introduce to you Apple (cat) and Palm (mouse). The round 'n round battle that these two tech giants this one tech giant, and second, not so giant tech giant (figure it out, it isn...
  • Verizon assures us the Pre is coming. Via Twitter

Some may frown upon more "professional" announcements via Twitter which is largely an informal, consumer service. Still, public professional criticism hasn't stopped droves of companies from embracing the service as an extension of their PR departments. The latest Tweet of importance comes from Verizon and confirms what we already knew -- that the Palm Pre is coming to Verizon in early 2010. New? No. Good to hear? You bet. Ubergizmo > Unwired ...
  • Palm slaps Apple in the face…the duel is on.

Either Palm is incredibly ballsy or Palm is insanely ballsy. If you didn't know, Palm released an updated 1.2.1 OS with one feature that will steal all the limelight: Palm Pre iTunes sync. That's right baby, it's on. Palm is apparantly throwing caution to the wind and ignoring the various companies not so happy with their current decisions. This whole battle between Palm and Apple just took quite an interesting turn. Both sides have their merits and cases as to why they're doing what they're ...
  • webOS 1.2 update live. iTunes syncing no where to be found.

Hot hot hot! Palm has official released the webOS 1.2 update this late afternoon to the hoard of inpatient Pre owners. Unfortunately, feature hounds will find mostly bug fixes in this update. However, honorable mentions include paid app downloads (not live yet) as well as music downloads over the air. Also, the claim that iTunes sync was coming back in 1.2 was a fallacy folks. It isn't here. Live to see another day I guess. Since the update has been out for a few hours, we gotta ask: How's...

Hey...you can't always get them right. And this one we apparently did not. Following yesterdays reporting from multiple sources that for reasons unknown, Verizon was going to pass on the Palm Pre are looking to be a bit...well..false. Several respectable sources such as The Street and Deutsche Bank’s Jonathan Goldberg are saying yesterdays scare doesn't have much weight. Mr. Goldberg in particular stressed that the Verizon/Pre fallout wasnt accurate and that demand is still healthy enough ...
  • Bad: Paid Pre apps delayed. Good: Pre iTunes sync coming back.

Well well well. If it isn't Palm and the Pre in the news again. We love hearing good stories and often dread the "but there's a bad part" part. It appears the roller coast Palm Pre owners have been on as of late isn't about to stop anytime soon. First, as not to spoil the fun, and because the best always goes last, we'll start with the bad. Bad: The Paid Pre apps and webOS update are delayed until a future date -- obviously -- (next week?). The update will be 1.2.1. And now the good...
  • Verizon decides against Palm Pre. iPhone deal behind closed doors? Palm gets a face smack.

*Rumor & Speculation warning.....!* I'm sure you've seen the articles detailing the recent smackdown Verizon dealt to Palm. If not...here's a very quick recap. Verizon was more than likely prepping to get the Pre early next year bringing Verizon customers one of their first tastes of a "modern" smartphone. However, that same company that was bragging about having the Pre right around Sprint's launch is now singing a very different tune as the are reported to now be passing over the Pre.....
  • Well that didn’t go as planned: Palm gets spanked by USB Implementers Forum over “borrowing” of Apple USB Vendor ID
    by Mike

Remember the small saga that has been going back forth between Apple, Palm, the Pre, and iTunes? The whole Pre/iTunes syncing issue has been bantered back and forth by the two companies with each successive software update enabling/disabling one of the Pre's most highly talked about launch features. Apple of course doesn't like Palm hiding behind a mask, or in this case falsely identifying their device with Apple's own USB vendor ID. Palm on the other hand has abysmal music syncing software a...
  • Palm Pre coming to O2 Germany October/November? [Update: October 13th-16th]
    by Mike
    Posted September 22nd, 2009 at 9:42 am
Palm's Jesus phone, the Palm Pre may soon be coming to O2 Germany if various sources are to be believed. According to nimsso from PreCentral, after receiving a Palm Pre promotional email he decided to call up O2 and inquire further. After talking to an O2 rep, he was advised to call back in 2 weeks at which point he could follow through with a pre-order (no pun intended). If you take into account two weeks starting today and then add another week or three for pre-order waiting, we're lookin...
