  • RIM job app signals webkit browser in the works

Spend any time surfing the mobile web? If you do so using a BlackBerry of any type, I'm sure you know the utter catastrophe that unfurls before your eyes each and every time you try to navigate to the web page of your choice. 3rd party solutions such as Opera mini and Bolt have until now given us worthwhile solutions that make browsing an outright joy. Still, in the age of the mobile internet, having your own slam dunk browser is key. Look no further than Mobile Safari on the iPhone and the ...
  • Themes coming to BlackBerry App World Novermber 9th?
    by Mike
    Posted October 21st, 2009 at 8:47 am
App World may be higher priced and not have as many apps as other mobile app stores, but one key feature that can truly set them apart from other app stores currently open. Themes. That's right. Many CrackBerry users find themes a great way to keep their device always feeling fresh and "like new". Besides, who wants to stare at the same layout, wallpaper, and icons all the time? I surely don't. While iPhone users have a snowball's chance in hell from getting official Apple sponsored themes...
  • Blackberry Watch “inPulse” prototype image leaked. Palm Foleo unavailable for comment…[Update]
    by Mike
    Posted October 19th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
**Update: Many sites around the web have mentioned this BlackBerry watch over the last 24 hours. Some have gone as far claiming that the manufacturers aren't in any way affiliated with RIM therefore implying they have no worries. However, this company developing the watch for RIM isn't just an occasional acquaintance mind you. It is a new company that although isn't owned by RIM, is under close contact and coordination with the Waterloo company. Having such a close relationship and spendin...
  • The White Knight BlackBerry Bold coming October 18th. Will anyone buy it?
    by Mike
    Posted October 8th, 2009 at 9:26 am
Seen the pictures of the White BlackBerry Bold floating around? It looks might sexy indeed. This White Knight of sorts has a release date of October 18th -- just a few days away. But I have to ask, is anyone really going to buy it? With the Onyx coming out a mere handful of days after this White Bold, it seems like a waste of resources and marketing if you ask me. Not to mention, spec for spec and looks considered, the 9700/Onyx is a much more refined and wholly more attractive Berry. The ...
  • Bolt BlackBerry browser gets bump to 1.5
    by Mike
    Posted October 7th, 2009 at 9:07 am
If you actually use the internet on a BlackBerry for anything worthwhile, you already know how terrible and downright useless the standard browser is. Thankfully there are options. Today's focus will be Bolt. A new browser relative to other players' time on the market such as Opera mini doesn't mean that Bolt is eons behind. Far from it actually. Even the first 1.0 build was awesome. With 1.5 that awesomeness only gets better. The list of updates is rather impressive and just goes to show...
  • Sense UI comes to BlackBerry
    by Mike
    Posted October 6th, 2009 at 8:44 am
The coolest BlackBerry theme (as far as OS copies go) is here. The Sense UI theme by Elecite is awesome. While Storm user will get the truest representation of the Android OS, horizontal display Berries are also supported. Per Elecite: The massive homescreen allows for 5-6 customizable icons, profiles/manage connections buttons, a Today page with hidden today items for phone log, messages and calendar icons, a Media page with quick access buttons to music, media and pictures, and finally...
  • RIM releases widget SDK for BlackBerry developers
    by Mike
    Posted October 6th, 2009 at 7:47 am
One of my biggest complaints with BlackBerries, and the main reason I've moved on to the iPhone and soon Android is the fact that the OS feels old. Sure there are tons of themes to pretty it up, but at the end of the day even the leaked 5.0 beta is essentially the same 4.1 OS from years before. RIM is taking baby steps in the right direction however with their release of an official BlackBerry widget SDK. The widgets will pull from several languages including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. ...
  • BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac being released today!
    by Mike
    Posted October 2nd, 2009 at 5:18 am
Just a friendly reminder for all of you BlackBerry toting, Mac loving junkies out there: BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac is being released today...for real this time! I was lucky enough to snag a copy of the earlier version that was leaked and like what I saw then. I can't wait to get the newest version and give a thorough shakedown. One thing is for sure however, BB Desktop manager for Mac is much more polished and streamlined than the Windows counterpart. Head on over to http://www.bl...
  • RIM to launch official, push supporting Twitter client October 16th?
    by Mike
    Posted October 1st, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Are you a Twit-a-holic? Does the 140 character universe wait for each and every moment you feel is worth sharing? BlackBerry users are some of the most impatient individuals (I should know...I've had 3 so far). When they want an answer or information, they want it now. RIM is still the king of messaging, especially push messaging. Currently on any given BlackBerry you can receive emails, SMS/MMS, IM's, as well as many other messages from different sources pushed to your device. However, ...
  • Simple Black&White theme by HedoneDesign
    by Mike
    Posted September 29th, 2009 at 9:56 am
While themes chock full of eye candy are no doubt fun to look at and admire, some people just want a simple, high contrast, easy to navigate interface. HedoneDesign has just the solution: Simple Black&White.; The look is very straight forward with simple icons and meters so you don't have to second guess or strain to read what your Berry is trying to tell you. While I'm not usually a fan of such bare bones themes, this one is actually pretty stylish. The simple life returns for $6.99. Scre...
  • BlackBerry OS 5.0.0.230/238 leaked for a slew of devices.
    by Mike
    Posted September 29th, 2009 at 5:09 am
If RIM won't give us what we want...someone else will. Right? That's how it seems to work in this world of digital obsession. Waking up this morning I was barraged with emails about numerous 5.0 OS flavors for various BB devices. Talking aside, find your device below and get to downloadin': OS 5.0.0.230 BlackBerry 8330 BlackBerry 9530 OS 5.0.0.238 BlackBerry 8520 BlackBerry 8900 BlackBerry Bold/9000> **Don't forget: Delete the Vendor.xml file or else it's all a no go. Berr...
  • YouTube app/icon getting pushed to Verizon Storm owners
    by Mike
    Posted September 22nd, 2009 at 5:18 am
Have a thing for skateboarding dogs, fart lighting frat boys, and zany cats? YouTube has long been your go to haven for such videos. BlackBerry Storm owners on Verizon's network while able to manually download the YouTube app for sometime will now be greeted by a new YouTube icon on their desktop giving them a friendly reminder. The first time you click on the link you'll notice that it is merely a shortcut to download the actual app. After which the "icon" will launch an actual app. If yo...
