  • State of mobile storage: 64GB NAND for smartphones in 2010.

To some degree, you could argue that a phone with 64GB of flash isn't really newsworthy since the current iPhone is sorta close and the iPod Touch already there. But I disagree. 64GB of storage on a single chip is very news worthy. A few years ago, a single GB of flash storage was insane to think about much less 64 of them all neatly lined up on a single chip. But this is 2010 folks. And thanks to Sandisk and a new 3-bit per cell technology, 64GB nand memory is smaller and cheaper than befo...

One of the chief complaints I see with certain Apple laptops is the lack of more ports. The SD port in particular was a big one until Apple recently added them to the Macbook Pros. But an iPhone? The makers of "ZoomIt" seem to think the iPhone platform is a perfect fit for their services. In order to get the full experience, you'll need to pick up both the iPhone ZoomIt app and ZoomIt SD card adapter that attaches itself to the phone. Among the many subtle and not so subtle changes, the revamped gallery is one of the most striking. It finally brings more sophisticated pizazz to a well deserving platform in need of some more eye candy. With that said, it's been available to port over to 2.0 for a little while now, only it in...

Well stomp on frogs and shove a crow bar up my nose. SD app storage, a feature that has been requested across many platforms to alleviate space issues when meager amounts of device memory are concerned have been around for several years. WindowsMobile, a widely panned and criticized as "old" mobile OS has had this feature for years. So why does a modern OS such as Android miss out? Since Android has been levied against Apple and Microsoft as a legitimate contender, being limited to at most 2...

With the ocean of formats available for what seems like an equally full ocean of different types of cards, you may think oh *expletive* at hearing of another storage format.  Fret not fellow readers for it is a backwards compatible format for SD cards dubbed SDXC SD (eXtended Capacity).  What is the benefit of these new fangled cards?  How about storage up to 2TB!  The cards rely on Microsofts exFat file format.  A few examples of what you can store on this thing are: 4,000 RAW images, ...
