    by Mike
    Posted January 26th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
If you are a Windows Mobile lover and have a thing for Palm, Best Buy has something for you.  The Palm Treo Pro, the hottest Palm of last year is officially available at Best Buy Mobile for a gut wrenching $699.  You have to be a true diehard Windows Mobile/Palm user to actually jump at a price like that.  The Sprint subsidized version which will come in at a much lower price will supposedly be here in mid February.  But as a gadget freak, I can understand the "gotta have it now" attitu...
  • Why do Apple and AT&T deceive their customers?
    by Mike
    Posted January 25th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
The iPhone 3G has brought Apple and AT&T truckloads of money in the last year. If you remember, after the iPhone 3G launched, AT&T's network started imploading immediately under the "immense" load of all the new customers. People were complaining left and right of low 3G coverge when AT&T's coverage map showed their area clearly within the boundaries. How did Apple (and most likely AT&T) remedy the situation? By rigging the iPhone to show false signal stength. One way to...
  • Everybody loves “Cupcakes”
    by Mike
    Posted January 23rd, 2009 at 3:42 pm
The much talked about "Cupcake update" that is supposed to be officially adopted by T-Mobile is still an orphan as no *definitive* release date has been anounced.  Besides the much hyped onscreen keyboard, bug fixes, utility add-ons, and UI tweaks are what make Cupcake sweet.  (weak I know).  The rumored release for Cupcake was end of January.  If that is in fact true, we could see it released within the next few days.  Cross your fingers!   Source: Boy Genius...

    by Mike
    Posted January 21st, 2009 at 7:24 pm
The Palm Pre and the WebOS have garned a boat load of attention since being unveiled at CES.  The way the OS works and is coded makes it stand out from pretty much everything else currently out there.  One of the "hidden" features of WebOS was accidently let loose a little early by Roger MacNamee, a gadget lover and Palm board director. • First phone to sport Windows Mobile 6.5 coming in Q3 2009?
    by Mike
    Posted January 21st, 2009 at 8:58 am
Windows Mobile fans sit back and hold on to your seat.  According to DigiTimes and SlashPhone, Microsoft will supposedly unveil WinMo 6.5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, release it to handset manufacturers mid-year which will then trickle down to consumers by Q3, and more so in Q4 in order to attract as many holiday shoppers as possible.  With Apple and Google focusing more on single and very few different devices respectively, Microsoft is continuing its mass market dist...
  • Battery life: “The downfall of the Pre”
    by Mike
    Posted January 16th, 2009 at 6:27 am
I have no room to talk as my iPhone's battery life sucks.  However, you would think manufacturers would take past mistakes to heart and learn from them.  It appears Palm can only do so much innovating at one time.  The Pre's batter is going to be the same size as the Palm Centro, not that great.  1150mAh-1350mAh is about what we can expect the Pre to ship with.  Which in my opinion is way to small for a smartphone in the current time frame.  Battery technology has not caught up with ot...

    by Mike
    Posted January 14th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Wow!  Talk about fast.  Seems like the WebOS the Pre is toting is quickly showing its versatility.  PreCentral interviewed Pandora's CTO, Tim Conrad.  Tim talked about the exciting potential the WebOS and the  Pre have to offer.  He also gave us an example of how the WebOS is easy to implement by the way an employee who previously did not touch coding at all quickly jumped into it with the WebOS.  What else did he have to say?  Click through to read the full interview. • Obama: “Goodbye Blackberry…Hello 1980’s brick”
    by Mike
    Posted January 14th, 2009 at 9:55 am
The vigilant fight Obama is putting up to keep his Blackberry looks bleaker everyday that passes.  Gizmodo has supposedly received images of one of the several "approved" presidential smartphones.  Sadly it is running WinMo 6.1 inside of a housing that looks like it was made in 1980.  It is comical to look at and imagine someone using it as an actual phone and not a more obvious tool such as....a paperweight.  Now onto the hardcore specs: CDMA/GSM capable, various classified/unclassifi...

  • Palm’s App Store dubbed: “Palm Catalog”
    by Mike
    Posted January 11th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
The Palm App Store is apparently going to be dubbed "Palm Catalog" according to Palm's Developer Network site.  The Pre's webOS is based around HTML and java type code.  Palm has announced that they are going to be including various "libraries" into the SDK to allow very rich, graphical applications for the Pre.  If you are a Pre hopeful looking to get your game on, look elsewhere for now as the Pre "wasn't designed with gaming in mind during the development cycle".  Why you say?  Well ...
