  • Homegrown *fake* shortages coming to a Sprint store near you on June 6th

Who doesn't love a hot gadget that gets people all excited and antsy. One that caauses hoards of people to gather in public places all vying for the same thing - a shot at geek stardom, being the first with the latest gadget. A true achievement in any nerds life to say the least. While the iPhone shortages weren't exactly purposely created, (as there were simply only so many people that can fit into a building at once, move product, etc. etc.), Palm and Sprint are going to try and pick up s...
  • Sprint Stores going to bed early, rising with the chickens in preperation for the Pre

In Apple/iPhone style, Sprint will making their own schedule changes to their stores in preperation and anticipation for the Palm Pre. Obviously hoping to a substantial number of units before Apple's big WWDC show happening that following week, Palm and Sprint both want to steal as much thunder and user base as possible from Apple in order to avoid the disaster that is the sinking ship their businesses currently look like. As noted by the handy leaked quick shot above, Sprint stores will be ...
  • A few more Pre goodies get slipped.

The march up to the Palm Pre's early summer release has been bringing with it small leaks along the way.  The latest Pre based rumor to make itself known concerns Office support, Office 2007 support that is.  This will certainly give the Pre a good footing in the corporate world where Microsoft Office is all but the only option for your office work.  A few other promised goods include customizable ringback/ringtones, video recording, and MMS messaging just to name the latest few.  The Pa...
  • Boost’s unlimited plan selling like hotcakes…unfortunate side effect: network getting nuked
    by Mike
    Posted May 4th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Sprint Nextel has had a sickness for the last couple of years concerning the constant bleeding of customers.  Whether it be the $99 unlimited everything plan, the earlier nights and weekends, or even the up and coming Palm Pre, nothing seems to be helping.  However, there was one slight glimmer of hope in Boost Mobile when they announced that they were introducing a $50 unlimited everything which was then and is still by far the cheapest unlimited everything plan by far.  And as would be ex...
  • Is the Pre really going to cost and arm, leg, and small child….come in short supply? [Brain food ahead]

As with all rumors, there are always two sides to a story and being the fair minded person that I am, I like to try and represent both sides at all times if possible.  Moving forward, I'd like to thank "Chingon" for commenting back in the article I posted earlier about the Palm Pre pricing and Best Buy availability and leaving a link to a very interesting and "mind opening" article.  While I was vocal above about a $1,000 off contract price point, there was a pretty fair amount of doubt pe...
  • Palm Pre sales tactic: Shortages and outright theft?
    by Mike
    Posted May 4th, 2009 at 3:09 am
While the title may seem a bit dramatic, essentially it can be taken this way.  New news trickling out regarding the Palm Pre has some pretty eye raising tid bits attached to it.  For starters, Best Buy stores across the country will have whopping 4,500 Pres to share.  4,500!  That's it?!  Also, it appears that 1 and 2 year pricing will be $299 and $199 respectively.  However, the real slap in the face is the outright laughable and "sure not to sell" price of $1,000 for a Palm Pre with...
  • Palm/Sprint playing the numbers game with Pre launch?
    by Mike
    Posted May 1st, 2009 at 11:26 am
Whenever a hyped up device is released, people always crunch the numbers days, weeks, months, and even years afterwards to see if the device ever met pre-sale expectations. According to Bloomberg, the Palm Pre might be in short supply. Could it be because Palm's manufaturing facilities simply can't produce them any faster. *laugher* Doubtful. Instead, as Bloomberg hypothesizes in the article above, Palm and Sprint could be intentionally shorting lauch day/week users as to drum up a sense ...
  • Palm Eos: webOS debut on AT&T?
    by Mike
    Posted April 30th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
While the Pre has been the talk of the town concerning Sprint and Palm, a new beast has come forth to take the spotlight, the Palm Eos, or more secretly known (castle). The phone physically will be thin...10.6mm thin. And with a 320 x 400 capacitive display, I'm sure multimedia capabilities will at least be a small part of the Eos's future. As with all good bleeding edge leaks, the info should be taken with several grains of salt and put in the nice little rumor bin that you have sitting ...
  • Palm Pre too big and ugly for ya…how about a Mini-Pre?
    by Mike
    Posted April 30th, 2009 at 3:53 am
The Palm Pre hasn't even been released yet, however that isn't stopping Palm from grabbing the cellphone market by the horns and trying to own the market like they used to.  While rumors of a smaller "iPhone nano" have been persistent on the web, nothing has materialized either physically, or in writing.  Many even suspect that Apple doesn't want to have a stratified line up of phones.  Palm on the other hand isn't taking the slow road wit their new webOS powered devices and is now rumore...
  • Heidi Klum: “LG’s Ambassador of Style”.
    by Mike
    Posted April 27th, 2009 at 7:14 am
If one thing could ever help cell phone accessory sales, it would be marketing said accessories behind a super model.  Yes, it is true that in the U.S., one of the best ways to sell something is having an extremely attractive woman behind it.  Something about that method causes men to practically throw their wallets at whatever company is selling the product.  The product in question today is custom designed backplates for the LG Rumor 2 designed by none other than Heidi Klum herself.  T...
  • WiMax gets another setback by way of a lawsuit
    by Mike
    Posted April 24th, 2009 at 4:16 am
WiMax sure is having a tough time coming to fruition.  While not the first setback/speed bump the Sprint partner, Clearwire has had, the latest is yet possibly another sign that maybe they just aren't meant to be.  Seems as if people aren't exactly thrilled with the coverage and speeds they've been experiencing over Clearwire's network.  The plaintiffs claim Clearwire's network of often falling short of their own claims of reliable service at broadband/DSl speeds that slow down and crawl...
  • Samsung Instinct S30 sneeks a cover shoot with Best Buy…coming very soon.
    by Mike
    Posted April 16th, 2009 at 9:05 am
If the current Samsung Instinct is just too large and unwieldy, according to a snapshot of an up and coming Best Buy ad, your pleas for a smaller, more pocketable version will soon be answerd.  Even better, the S30 dropping at Best Buy will be available from the electronics retail giant for a total of $49.99 *after signing your soul away for 2 years of course - considerably less ($80 to be precise) than Sprint themselves are offering ($129) and much less than the price the original Instinct...
