  • Geeky-Gadgets iPhone app finally approved. Long waits, multiple rejections, and stupid reasoning aplomb.

Travel back in time inside your mind to November 25th when we touched on fellow tech blogger Geeky-Gadgets' less than stellar interaction with the App Store and the mindless idiots who run it. November 4th: App Submitted / November 25th app rejected If you remember, the original Geeky-Gadgets app that was submitted on November 4th was rejected because of the contest category and some BS rule in the iPhone SDK that prohibits including or linking to such things. "Fair enough" said Ronald, e...
  • Moto XT701/(Sholes Tablet?) shows up for but a second on Moto’s website.

Normally I wouldn't be all that interested in some "leak" of a Chinese bound handset. I don't live in China so why would I want to buy a device designed for China? Easy enough, right? Every now and then however, a foreign device slips by and reveals itself and does catch my attention. One such device is the Motorola XT701. Several weeks ago, the internet was full of Sholes Tablet images depicting a keyboardless version of the Moto Sholes (think Droid). While I like the added physical key...
  • Swype beta for Android in the open! Best onscreen text input method hands down.
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2009 at 10:06 am
Tapping out your text messages via physical buttons is old, old technology. Touchscreens are a new technology. Why hamper the new with the 'ol ball and chain of old? Such is the problem Swype sets out to correct. Originally debuting on the Samsung Omnia II, Swype developers stated that other platforms would be supported in 2010. Looks as if they got the ball rolling a little early as anyone itching to try out this innovative new way to text on touchscreens can now give it a go on their Andr...
  • Nexus One pricing leaked! $530 without contract. $180 with 2-year T-Mo deal.

In the market for a new smartphone -- an Android smartphone in particular lacking any physical keyboard? If so, the Nexus One has no doubt been on your radar. "THE" Google/Android phone to have. We've seen the specs over and over as well as blurry video after blurry video with a few clear ones here and there meticulously detailing the hardware and Android 2.1. Awesome. We already know about all of that. The biggest question, the question of price, has so far been elusive -- until now. I...
  • iChat mobile, the iSlate/iTablet/iPad, and domesticated unicorns getting closer to reality…

    Posted December 28th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Not a week goes by that I don't see some form of Mobile iChat/iTablet rumor. Such has been the case for well over a year now. Many hoped that the iPhone 3GS would pack some form of the heavily sought after application as well as a front facing video camera for video calls. Truth of the matter is, while video calls are more popular in other parts of the world, here in the states the feature has failed to gain any real traction or even following. Perhaps one potential iPhone 4.0/iTablet fe...
  • “iTablet” to feature iPhone OS or full blown OS X? Portability and apps or power and expandability?
    by Mike
    Posted December 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
I stumbled on a thought provoking article on MacDailyNews that really got my mental juices flowing... iPhone OS Looking at the title above and taking into account the various bits of information surrounding a so called Apple tablet that has been beaten and flogged across the digital waves the last year would lead most to believe that any actual device would feature an iPhone-esque OS. I mean, why not? If you want to keep things simple and battery friendly while also tapping into the app st...
  • LG LS680 to bring Android and WiMax(?) to Sprint. CES tells all…
    by Mike
    Posted December 28th, 2009 at 10:15 am
A few days back we touched on Sprint and LG's exciting announcement planned for CES 2010. Oh my, what could it be? For many, a WiMax device is all but certain. The OS however was sorta kinda up in the air. WinMo or Android? Both are very well possible and probably certain at some point. For the next few days at least, Android has the nod as a new screenshot sent to BGR this morning shows an LG Android device sittin' pretty in system computers. The only thing we do know is that the $1 pla...
  • Official Nexus One specs leaked. “Invite only” retail approach.
    by Mike
    Posted December 23rd, 2009 at 11:48 am
Those interested in the Nexus One in even the slightest bit may be happy to know that the official specs have leaked for the masses to gaze upon. Overall, there isn't much here that we didn't already know. Still, seeing all the rights stuff laid out before our eyes and confirming the many things we wish for is a sight to say the least. Still unclear is how many ways we geeks can snag one of the beauts as brick and mortar retail outlets aren't yet confirmed. Though T-Mobile has been in the...
  • 7″ Apple tablet coming in January “For Sure”…
    by Mike
    Posted December 23rd, 2009 at 10:03 am
The world may be ripe with 10" Apple tablet rumors, but as they old saying goes: "What is popular isn't always right". Ok, so it's not the best fit for the saying but it's all I've got -- hey, the holiday break has already manifested itself many times over inside my head...I went on vacation days ago. With that said, an "extremely accurate and reliable" source of BGR's has come forth saying there is a 100% chance of a 7" Apple tablet. The often bragged about 10 incher however is claimed t...
  • Moto CLIQ rooted!
    by Mike
    Posted December 23rd, 2009 at 6:30 am
Android lovers and Cliq users rejoice -- the Motorola Cliq has officially been rooted. If you're looking for custom goodies such as honest to goodness themes (instead of home replacements) and a few other hacked items you're good to go. However, if you're real intentions are to install some tweaked ROM's (hello HTC Sense on your Moto Cliq) hold off for a bit longer. According to those responsible for the root -- TheDudesAndroid of ModMyMoto -- it isn't yet ready to install "update.zip" files....
  • HTC HD2 video showing TMO branding all but confirms what we already knew…
    by Mike
    Posted December 22nd, 2009 at 5:35 am
Regardless of your opinion on Windows Mobile, you have to admit that the HTC HD2 -- all 4.3" of it's glass faced frontal beauty -- is a drop dead gorgeous phone. Currently however, US citizens are left without any official channels to pick up a subsidized or even a US version of the device. That's all set to change in the not too distant future. A video (below) showing a new "2.0.1" ROM showcases among other things, a very familiar magenta boot image that goes "Stick Together" -- a TMO sl...
  • The Notion Ink tablet: Best looking Android tablet yet?
    by Mike
    Posted December 18th, 2009 at 7:41 am
What's your take on tablet computers? I'm not head over heels for them per say as I either want a beast of a laptop or a beast of a phone. Tablets are in that gray/middle area that are just "meh" for me. But I'm but one man. Of all the tablets I've seen so far, the one pictured above set to drop compliments of Notion Ink is the closest I've come to actually wanting a tablet yet. The physical design is slick. HD 1080p video playback is a go as is A-GPS and a 3.0 megapixel camera. For stora...
