  • 7″ Apple tablet coming in January “For Sure”…
    by Mike
    Posted December 23rd, 2009 at 10:03 am
The world may be ripe with 10" Apple tablet rumors, but as they old saying goes: "What is popular isn't always right". Ok, so it's not the best fit for the saying but it's all I've got -- hey, the holiday break has already manifested itself many times over inside my head...I went on vacation days ago. With that said, an "extremely accurate and reliable" source of BGR's has come forth saying there is a 100% chance of a 7" Apple tablet. The often bragged about 10 incher however is claimed t...

    by Mike
    Posted December 23rd, 2009 at 6:30 am
Android lovers and Cliq users rejoice -- the Motorola Cliq has officially been rooted. If you're looking for custom goodies such as honest to goodness themes (instead of home replacements) and a few other hacked items you're good to go. However, if you're real intentions are to install some tweaked ROM's (hello HTC Sense on your Moto Cliq) hold off for a bit longer. According to those responsible for the root -- TheDudesAndroid of ModMyMoto -- it isn't yet ready to install "" files....
  • HTC HD2 video showing TMO branding all but confirms what we already knew…

Regardless of your opinion on Windows Mobile, you have to admit that the HTC HD2 -- all 4.3" of it's glass faced frontal beauty -- is a drop dead gorgeous phone. Currently however, US citizens are left without any official channels to pick up a subsidized or even a US version of the device. That's all set to change in the not too distant future. A video (below) showing a new "2.0.1" ROM showcases among other things, a very familiar magenta boot image that goes "Stick Together" -- a TMO sl...
  • The Notion Ink tablet: Best looking Android tablet yet?
    by Mike
    Posted December 18th, 2009 at 7:41 am
What's your take on tablet computers? I'm not head over heels for them per say as I either want a beast of a laptop or a beast of a phone. Tablets are in that gray/middle area that are just "meh" for me. But I'm but one man. Of all the tablets I've seen so far, the one pictured above set to drop compliments of Notion Ink is the closest I've come to actually wanting a tablet yet. The physical design is slick. HD 1080p video playback is a go as is A-GPS and a 3.0 megapixel camera. For stora...
  • webOS training at VZW stores starts. Pre/Pixie launch can’t be too far off.
    by Mike
    Posted December 16th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
Back when the Palm Pre was launched, Sprint boasted of their exclusive deal with Palm concerning webOS. (A lot of good that did them...) Verizon countered with an "end of year" release of webOS themselves. Obviously they were a bit too excited as Sprint ended up being correct -- that Verizon wasn't getting any webOS love until 2010. Well, 2010 is just around the corner and tonight we can now feast our eyes upon the very training documents VZW employees are currently consuming, prepping f...
  • Nexus One animated backgrounds in all their motion picture goodness.
    by Mike
    Posted December 16th, 2009 at 7:20 am
So far there haven't been too many videos of the Nexus One pushed out onto the web. It's mostly been still pictures or one of ten million videos highlighting the boot up animation. Exciting stuff indeed. How about something a little different such as a peek at those animated wallpapers that everyone is talking about? The animated wallpaper in the video is only one of many I'm sure but it gives us a good look at how it performs on the Nexus at least. It'll be interesting to see how the a...
  • Touch screen computers go now ready for 32-digit input thanks to “dreaMTouch”
    by Mike

I don't personally own an HP TouchSmart PC. I've used one though and came away overall impressed. It's a nifty idea though not one I'd want to make use of daily. Some things I just prefer to do with an old fashioned mouse and keyboard, joystick sometimes makes grand appearance. The real problem with the TouchSmart is that it only senses up to two fingers. The reason behind such woes stem from the sheer size of the display which forced HP to rely on older optical sensor based technology for ...
  • Swipe for Android demoed on screen
    by Mike
    Posted December 15th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
If you haven't heard, the next up and coming touchscreen tech is Swipe. It is an alternative method to inputing -- in this case sliding -- text onto a touchscreen device. Instead of tap tap tappin' away, Swipe users can simply slide their finger from one letter to the next providing quick and fluid firing of words and thoughts. This innovative new mobile app was first seen and launched exclusively on the Samsung Omnia II. That phone in particular is nothing special -- at least to more ha...
  • Nexus One opens up for a few more shots. Full frontal spread entices…
    by Mike
    Posted December 14th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Regardless if you feel the Nexus One is the almighty "Google Phone" that lives on both sides of the "it does/doesn't exist fence", one thing is for sure -- it's hot. The Snapdragon processor and WVGA 3.7" OLED display are drool worthy, equalling up to the most hotly anticipated Android device yet. (Droid it was nice being on top while it lasted). The carrier free w/ T-Mo buddy app is a nice touch, and rumors of a Google provided subsidy round out some of the more notable and interesting facts...
  • Nexus One passes FCC with Tri-band US 3G support!
    by Mike
    Posted December 14th, 2009 at 6:24 am
The claims of a "Google Phone" are gaining momentum this morning. Just to throw it out there, now I'm finally starting to wish I would have waited a *tad* longer before picking up the Droid. I love it and all, but the Nexus One is hott (two T's hott!!) even without a physical qwerty. Personal lust behind us, the Nexus One has inched step closer to our hearts and hands this morning as pictures of it sailing through the FCC have gone public. Any additional info or shots of Android 2.1 won't b...
  • Verizon Palm Pixie passes FCC? 2010 launch all but confirmed?
    by Mike
    Posted December 13th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
Palm has had a rather tough time so far getting webOS off the ground. The Pre has more or less done pretty good though it's short of what I'd call a blow out success. Still, Palm still has some fight (or is it just reflexes on a dead carcass now...?) left in them. The Palm Pixie isn't as high end as the Pre, but it's purpose in life isn't to steal the hearts and minds of the high end market. The Pixie is meant to bring up the bottom end -- to usher in droves of new users who may not have had...
  • Acer A1 comes state side. Passes FCC with AT&T 3G bands in tow…
    by Mike
    Posted December 11th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
AT&T; has remained mum on any mentioning of Android or when the carrier might even begin to sell devices with Android. Chalk it up to their love fest with Apple. AT&T; users deserve an Android option. Now that all three other big carriers have at least one Android device with many more in the pipeline means AT&T; can't afford to sit this one out much longer. With that said, we can always look towards the FCC directories and documents for early information of handset releases. The Acer A1 h...
