Apple Begins Selling Unlocked iPhone 4Ses Today!

  • November 11, 2011 11:40 am

Remember when we stayed up very very late and happened to take that first screenshot of the factory unlocked iPhone 4Ses ‘coming soon’ section on Apple’s website? Well, we surely don’t - until today. Apple has finally made ordering the unlocked version of it’s new Jesus line of phones available today.

There isn’t an iPhone unlock as of yet for the iPhone 4S via a jailbreak, so for those of you that want to rock your iPhone on T-Mobile or whichever GSM carrier you want, this is the only option. There aren’t many GSM providers in the US, but for those of you that are not stuck State Side, you’ll have way more options.

Hop over to Apple’s website and go through the normal purchasing of an iPhone, and instead of choosing a carrier, click the little ‘Get the iPhone Contract Free’ link and you’ll be ready to go! The 16GB will run you a cool $649 and the 32GB and 64GB will cost you $749 and $849 respectively.

Who has been waiting for the factory unlocked version straight from Apple? Any International readers stoked?

Factory Unlocked iPhone 4S Price Revealed - Arriving In November

  • October 7, 2011 4:09 am

During all the commotion this evening ordering from the Apple Store, not sure if any of you saw the print under where you select your carrier? A link that says the Unlocked iPhone will be arriving in November. Upon clicking the link you’ll see the prices for all 3 models.

The 16GB will run you the $649, while the 32GB and 64GB will finish out at $749 and $849 respectively. As stated before, this World phone will only support GSM carriers. The CDMA peeps really aren’t part of the World, so we have to leave em out.

Will anyone be waiting to pick up a factory unlocked phone? Or snag one off of Craigslist once the Jailbreak community finds an unlock vulnerability?

Pwnage Comes In A Tool, A 4.2.1 Tool

  • February 16, 2011 8:15 am

The moment we’ve (I most definitely) been waiting for, PwnageTool 4.2 has been released. This is big news for all jailbreakers and unlockers that have been waiting for the magical OS X app that pwns the (lowercase) I out of your device.

When greenpois0n was released a week or so ago, we told you all about it, but we also mentioned that only iPhone 4 users could update while perserving their baseband, as to not lose their unlock. The iPhone Dev Team were finally given permission to use the “feedface” untether exploit for 4.2.1 in their latest tool - giving everyone out there the ability to create a custom ipsw as well as perserve their baseband.

4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak Upon Us, Maybe, Probably? SOOOOOON!!!

  • January 21, 2011 4:56 pm

The Chronic Dev Team have shown us a sweet arse demo on the twitters that shows an 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. This is something that was given as a Christmas present ETA, but with no luck. So here we are - a few weeks later and we at least get a demo. This is a great effort from @0naj, @p0sixninja and @pod2g. And if you’ve been following the tweets you’ll know there is a minor bug where the WiFi icon doesn’t show up. That’s not such a big bug, is it? :) They still have to pack it all pretty like and get the minor bugs worked out before mass consumption. But for all those stuck with a tethered jailbreak at 4.2.1, your days are gonna get a whole lot Apple USBless… We’ll definitely let you know when the tool is released.

Next iPhone 4 Unlock Not Coming Until 4.3.

  • January 14, 2011 7:32 am

At first, news of no new iPhone unlocks coming until after iOS 4.3 (still many weeks away) dampen an otherwise lovely Friday. But if we look at the bigger picture, it’s a good thing. Releasing a new jailbreak/hack/unlock now would give Apple time to squeeze in a fix. And no body wants that. Time to play the waiting game again…

Have no idea if you can jailbreak? iDevice Wizard will pwn your ignorance

  • October 14, 2010 4:53 pm

iClarified has always had a nice little way to help you find out if you can Jailbreak and Unlock, and they still do. But if you don’t feel like making it any more complicated than you already think it is, head on over to the iDevice Jailbreak & Unlock Wizard to find out. It only has support for iPhone 3g and later, iPod 2g and later, as well as the iPad and AppleTV 2nd gen. One other stipulation is that it only supports iOS back to 3.1.3. But even then, it is still very easy and straight to the point. If you have any other iOS or earlier devices, head on over to iClarified, as their tool should have everything.

Anyways, this tool will help you find the right tool to jailbreak and unlock your iDevice, and if there isn’t anything, it will let you know that as well. So if you aren’t sure what you can use, check this out.

Also, if you haven’t updated to 4.1, are on an iPhone 4, and you need an unlock, make sure to upgrade your iOS FW through TinyUmbrella as it won’t update your baseband firmware. Or you can wait for pwnagetool if you are a Mac to create the custom IPSW.

Jailbreaking with limera1n 101

  • October 10, 2010 12:31 am

Well, since everyone decided they would use the buggy beta jailbreak limera1n, not really caring about the other side of the fence, there isn’t much I can say. I know a lot of you used it, based on the comments of an earlier post, and oh well. What is done is done. Since this is the exploit we are getting, I am going to wait for a better version incorporated into greenp0ison instead of supporting ‘egohot.’

I did want to leave those of you that will jailbreak with a few tutorials over at iClarified. Since I won’t partake in this tool, I can’t make one of my own. But when greenp0ison is out, trust me, I’ll try to make one for you…

Anyways, if you drop down to iClarified at this address — iClarified — you will see numerous tutorials. They’ll show you how to JB on all supported devices using the Windows OS, not Linux or Mac people! A really important step is for those that rely on a carrier unlock. If you haven’t updated yet, please follow the guide to restore to 4.1 using Tiny Umbrella. This will keep your current baseband and in turn save you from losing your unlock.

Follow these tutorials to the letter and you should save yourself a hell of a lot of headaches.

This newest release by geohot finally supports the 3gs New Bootrom, which the earlier betas did not.

Have at it people!

limera1n is available earlier than the SHAtter exploit…oh gosh [UPDATE x 3]

  • October 9, 2010 4:42 pm

Well, Geohot did it. He released his jailbreak limera1n earlier than SHAtter to “get them to do the right thing.” The right thing being not release SHAtter to leave us with a future jailbreak for other devices. The only thing limera1n has going for it is the fact that it is for all devices. It is available at limera1n for download. I really don’t like posting about this, but I have to let all of you know.

Please don’t use this jailbreak. It uses an unstable tether very much against the wishes of comex and the dev team. Comex trusted Geohot not to release, and not to steal their untethered exploit. Geohot went ahead and used it, released it before SHAtter, and did so without it being fully tested or stable. He basically just screwed everyone. He can say it was for a good reason all he wants. But in the end, this does more hurt than good.

Please wait for SHAtter to be released tomorrow (if it still will be). I don’t recommend using limera1n in the near future, or at the very least, until someone can say whether it is 100% working and not a rushed beta jailbreak. I’ll keep you all update in the following hours as well as tomorrow when SHAtter was scheduled to be released.

Also, so you know, limera1n wasn’t designed to be untethered for older iDevices, so those on 3gs and iPod 3g and earlier beware.

Update

Well, Geohot has really screwed everything up this. POsixninja has given 3 options : A) Not release greenpois0n, B) Burn a second bootrom expoit, or C) Break our ETA and implement geo’s exploit

Burning a second bootrom exploit isn’t really recommended, there is a possibility that Apple won’t fix anything, and we can use this in future devices, BUT, limera1n is unstable and the untethered aspect isn’t the best, and isn’t really ideal for older devices. What do you all suggest they do? At this point, it is really hard to say. I know myself, I want to be at 4.1 and jailbroken, but I’ll forgo it if it means there is no release tomorrow. I’d rather have a good release 4 months or whatever down the road, instead of a shotty release now.

Thanks Geohot, you have gone down in the books as a class A douche. Please, don’t donate to this prick

Update x 2

known bugs:
need to restart to get the Cydia icon to show up after installing Cydia
some people still don’t have windows
beta iOS versions aren’t supported
uninstall in limera1n app doesn’t work, you can just delete the blackra1n.app directory, i need regression testing
iPod Touch 2G support coming soon
for 3G, use redsn0w
limera1n app is a white box, i know. use it anyway

Update x 3

changelog
BETA1 - first release
BETA2 - fixed kernel patching magic, rerun BETA2+ over BETA1
BETA3 - fixed new bootrom 3GS

Jailbreak Hills, 90210

  • October 8, 2010 11:46 pm

Oh good friggin grief… So, remember some odd months back when Geohot decided he was getting too much attention from the people wanting this JB tool and that unlock tool??? Well, he decided to act like Steve Sanders from 90210 and be a complete 199-Douche. He left the scene and hasn’t been seen by the public since. Now with greenp0ison getting some action this Sunday, Geohot decided since there is an ETA of that tool, he’ll waste(and boy do I mean waste) a completely good exploit to be such an arse.

Now, if you don’t understand why this is dumb, let me explain. When someone releases a jailbreak tool, it is awesomeness until Apple fixes it. Yes, the SHAtter exploit can’t be fixed with a low level software fix — it needs a hardware fix. But still, let’s say the SHAtter exploit is brought to Apples attention, to which they then release a new device that fixes this, Geohot, or whomever releases the exploit he wants to blow. Then there is a NEW jailbreak on that device which gets us all stoked again because we have another way to jailbreak. BUT, if both SHAtter and the exploit Geohot has found are released at the same time, Apple can kill two birds with one stone and patch them both.

Geohot is only hurting the community with this move. There is no good outcome. POsixninja has stated that if they can, in time with their ETA of greenp0ison, use the exploit Geohot has, they’ll release their tool using that exploit instead of SHAtter. Ultimately, it will be good for us as we can expect that SHAtter exploit to still work in the future. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that the greenp0ison team gets this out on time using Geohots exploit just so they don’t have to reveal SHAtter.

Understand??? Yeah, high school drama. Geohot just wants a piece of the *Apple* pie because he has nothing better to do than to be a complete douchebag. 9021pwn if I’ve ever seen it

Stay tuned, once again as we’ll release the info this weekend on whatever the tool is to jailbreak our iDevices(next gen iDevices that is!)
