The LG VX9600 previously mentioned with its detachable goodies and all is set to arrive on February 22nd at your local Best Buy Mobile and Verizon Wireless stores.  This modular phone is definitely a rarity in the market and its future is unknown.  What do you think?  Will this ship sail away a winner?  Or sink like a rock with all the attachments you have to carry in your pocket?   Source: Boy Genius...
  • Femtocell range extender now loosed by Verizon
    by Mike
    Posted January 25th, 2009 at 9:54 am
So, are you in one of the 3 places on the planet where Verizon doesn't have any coverage?  You can stop saying "Can you here me now?" and finally start having a normal conversation inside of your house instead of aimlessly roaming around your front yard searching for a signal.  Verizon has made good on their promise, (and on time), to release the "Verizon Wireless Network Extender" for the low price of $249.99.  What is this new fangled femtocell/range extender you ask?  A femtocell uses...
  • LG VX9600 steps into the limelight
    by Mike
    Posted January 23rd, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Every single phone that comes out always has loyal lovers and haters.  The haters always find things that are wrong with it.  More often than not, the biggest gripes always center around number/text input whether its the shape of the keyboard or how its positioned.  LG is trying to do away with these issues with the VX9600.  What makes this LG phone different from the rest?  Try detachable accessories!  Don't like the keyboard?  Fine.  Pop it off. A big thank you to Snap315 of Howard...
  • Full qwerty keyboard in portrait mode coming to the Storm!
    by Mike
    Posted January 22nd, 2009 at 1:26 pm
The newest Blackberry Storm OS 4.7.0.90 includes one feature that users have been asking for since day one: a full qwerty keyboard in portrait mode!  Besides the keyboard update, a few other issues such as bumping the phone turns on the backlight has been fixed as to not kill your battery quite as fast as well as a few visual inhancements.  Stability (music/video player not included) also seems to have been improved.  All in all, a good update from RIM. • DTV transition…Feb. of ‘09…(or is it)?
    by Mike
    Posted January 12th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
The U.S. Government has never been very technologically literate, so it comes as no surprise that the government is now looking to postpone the DTV roll out. I see this as a downright stupid thing to do with less than a month to go for a number of reasons. 1. Many companies had to pay pretty big sums of money to transition to DTV. Things such as removing old equipment and setting up new is just one thing that they must pay for. 2. The majority of Americans don't care about technology or tech ...
  • Verizon completes Alltel acquisition.
    by Mike
    Posted January 11th, 2009 at 11:29 am
Verizon has finally completed their merger with Alltel making them the largest (by subscriber base) carrier in the U.S. with 83.7 million customers.  The total dent in Verizon's wallet comes in the form of $5.9 billion for Alltel's equity, and $22 billion net of cash.  Over the next couple of months as the networks are integrated, Verizon is telling Alltel customers that nothing needs to be done on their end.  Alltel's GSM will continue being served, and Alltel customers can call Verizon ...
  • Palm readying BIG announcement?
    by Mike
    Posted January 5th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
WM Experts has received a tip regarding Palm's website.  Apparently they made a few changes and left a few tid bits of info confirming the Palm Treo Pro.  If you go to Palm's site and hit "Shop" and then click on "Compare Details", you'll notice that under the Treo Pro it says 3g and CDMA + EVDO.  What does this mean?  Only that it could be coming to more than one U.S. carrier or even more wild is if it the CDMA version was a "World Edition", being a CDMA phone here in the states, but wi...
  • Save the date: Verizon/Alltel marriage, Jan 9.
    by Mike
    Posted January 4th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Yes, the time is finally coming folks.  All the i's have been dotted, t's crossed, and red tape cut.  Verizon and Alltel are coming to the end of their long acquisition ordeal.  The marriage will cost Verizon mere pocket change totaling $5.9 billion in up front cash as well as taking on Alltel's equally minuscule debt of $22.9 billion.  This sacred marriage will give Verizon the crown as biggest wireless carrier in the U.S. with a customer base of some 78 million people, quite a number...
  • Verizon = Greedy A**holes
    by Mike
    Posted November 13th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I'll start by saying, bar none, Verizon has the biggest 3G foot print, and generally in most sections of the country, the best coverage.  However, I don't care if they had 100% coverage from here until the moon I would NEVER subscribe to their nickel and dime bs. Rant aside, Boygenius has got his hands on the full two page document highlighting Verizon's consumer friendly change in their plan pricing and Smartphone/PDA plan schemes.  After November 14th ALL smartphones will requir...
