We took a look at the Galaxy Nexus a couple months back. While we generally loved the device and software, the battery life, at least on the LTE version, was terrible. It would literally sit there and die in our hands. But such is the way first-gen chipsets and hardware work — they’re test beds for the greater things to come. But if you couldn’t wait for more efficient LTE phones — And we don’t blame you, waiting sucks! — a couple of extended battery options have trickled out for Galaxy Nexus owners. While we’ve seen various capacities hitting up to a fat 3800 mAh, it is Mugen who has brought the largest, longest running battery to market at 4,000 mAh of pure, un-tethered goodness.
As you can see in the image above, mini-fission reactor-like runtime doesn’t come without a major drawback in the size department. The included back casing has a massive lump and quite frankly makes the Galaxy Nexus an ugly ogre of a device. Still, if you’re the type that doesn’t want to have to charge their phone every few hours, batteries such as Mugen’s $99 4,000 mAh power pack are your only real solution.
