ZTE Announces “Era” Quad Core Smartphone.

MWC 2012 is quickly becoming quad-core infested, and we love it. Following the lead of some of the bigger names is ZTE with their new “Era” quad-core smartphone. The 4.3″ is the familiar qHD (540 x 960) resolution while the processor is a new Tegra 3 SoC ticking at 1.3 GHz per core. RAM is the industry standard 1 gig while the camera (rear) is rated at 8-megapixels. Other perks include NFC hardware paired with ZTE’s in-house sharing app, “ZTE Touch and Share’. But what’s really the Era’s claim to fame is the svelte 7.8mm body. Yes. It’s thin. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with ZTE’s own custom Mifavor skin is the OS of choice.

Hopefully the race to 7.8mm and quad-core processor don’t combine to form the perfect storm of terrible battery life, as happens all too often when manufacturers get over zealous with their fat trimming raids.

Look for the ZTE Era to hit markets beginning in Q3 2012.
